This event is for NEET (Not in education, employment or training) youth, high school students, church and community youth groups. Bring your bubbly personalities, talents, and enthusiasm as we celebrate YOUth and their incredible potential! (aged 13-24)

On behalf of Mau a Samoa i le Sitiseni NZ 2024 we invite the Samoan and Pacific Island community in Hamilton to attend the “Samoa Tula’i Hamilton fono.” The purpose of the fono is to come together for the Restoring Citizenship Removed by Citizenship (Western Samoa) Act 1982 Bill. This bill holds the promise of restoring New Zealand citizenship to Samoan people.

Get ready for an explosion of Pacific culture here at our very own campus.

From the 4th - 6th of April we will be hosting our inaugural Tupaia Challenge. This challenge is named after the Tupaia who is from Ra’iātea. Tupaia was a high priest,orator, diploma and master navigator. He displayed qualities of Pacific leadership that is still recognised to this day.

The Tupaia challenge will consist of :
🎤Oratory
🏏 Kilikiti
🐚 Cultural Performances

Our local secondary schools will be competing in the above three categories.

This event is FREE to the community.

On Saturday, Hi 5 island food and Fautasi will be selling Pacific food and items.

Unfortunately, key people that have been responsible for organising the “Your village, Your Voice” fono are now in isolation. As a result, we have made the decision to postpone the fono.

This is a timely reminder that Omicron is still circulating in the community and that we all must still be vigilant about the importance of health and hygiene and mask wearing.

We are exploring options to reschedule the fono. We will be in touch as soon as possible to confirm another date.
