🎉 Ooshie Swap Day at Pukete School! 🎉

What a busy lunch break we had at kura today for our one-off Ooshie Swap Day! It was a popular event, with about half of our kura coming along and joining in the fun!

It was awesome to see tamariki demonstrating our school virtues, as they traded their Ooshies fairly and shared kindly with one another. Many of our tamariki were able to complete their collections or add some new Ooshie characters to their sets.

For those tamariki who are still missing a few characters, don’t worry! Woolworths Supermarket is holding another Ooshie Swap Day next Saturday, 22nd August, from 10am–12pm. Please remember to keep all Ooshies safely at home once again. Thank you ☺️

🍪Cookies and Milk🥛-Tomorrow

Today your child will bring home an order form. If needed, spare forms are available from your child’s teacher, or you can write the order on paper. Please return the completed form with correct money to your child’s teacher before school. If you don’t have cash, you can take the order form to the office and pay via eftpos.

What a fantastic day for our Pukete School Cross Country on Friday!

It was certainly a very cold start to the morning, but that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of our amazing tamariki. With over 120 runners aged 8 years and older taking part, they all represented their houses with pride. 💙💛❤️💚

A huge congratulations to every student who participated - you should all be proud of your effort and determination to succeed. We wish the very best of luck to the students who are selected to represent Pukete School at the Cross Country Interschool Event on Tuesday 8th September. We know you'll make us proud.

Thank you to our staff, whānau, and supporters who came along to encourage our runners. Your support helped make the day a great success!

Puppets in Room 14

On Friday, Akomanga 14 had an unforgettable afternoon when Matua Dan arrived with his lively puppet friends, Pangu and Pania, to celebrate the letter of the week ‘P’. The tamariki were captivated as the puppets popped out of their bag, full of personality and humour. Matua Dan introduced them as best friends who love exploring words that start with ‘P’, sparking laughter and curiosity among the children. The classroom buzzed with excitement as everyone tried to guess other ‘P' words from pōtae (hat) to p**i (shellfish) turning the visit into a joyful language adventure.

Pangu and Pania then shared a special story, ‘The Little Brown Kiwi’ bringing the tale to life with expressive voices and gentle movements. The tamariki listened intently, eyes wide, as the puppets helped them connect the story’s themes to their own learning about letters, sounds, and New Zealand wildlife. Matua Dan encouraged discussion about the kiwi’s characteristics and how ‘P’ words could describe it like patient, proud, and persistent.

The visit ended with laughter, singing, and plenty of puppet high‑fives. It was more than just a literacy lesson; it was a moment of connection, imagination, and cultural storytelling. The tamariki left inspired, chatting about their favourite ‘P’ words and eager to see what letter adventure would come next.

We wrapped up an amazing day of sport with another exciting House Sport Football match!

Congratulations to Nīkau, who claimed a 3-0 victory over Rātā in a well-fought game. Both teams showed fantastic teamwork and determination throughout the game.

Well played to everyone who took the field and represented their house with pride. It was a great way to finish a day filled with energy, participation, and school spirit.

🏃🏼 What a fantastic afternoon at our Junior Fun Run! 🏃🏽‍♀️

Today, all of our junior tamariki took part in a fun run around the school bike track, tackling a variety of obstacles along the way. It was wonderful to see everyone giving it a go, encouraging one another, and most importantly, having fun!

The biggest reward was seeing the huge smiles on our tamariki's faces as they crossed the finish line. Their enthusiasm, determination, and sense of achievement made the event a great success.

A huge thank you to all of the whānau who came along to support our runners. It was amazing to see so many of you there cheering on our tamariki. Your encouragement helped create a wonderful atmosphere and made the event even more special.

Thank you to our awesome senior students who helped around the course with keeping the tamariki on track and encouraging them to give it their best. Thank you also to Anna for her great organisation of this event. Well done to everyone who participated!
