We do, and on our trip to Paris there were definitely several very good ones consumed!!

🥖A little closer to home, one of our go-to places is Rudi's Bakehouse in Hamilton CBD, Stefan and his team make some delicious treats!

🤫Did you know there is a secret to getting some a little cheaper?



Until recently, Rudi’s would sell their previous day (but still yummy) stock via Foodprint NZ, but when the app closed earlier this month, it created a problem what to do… now you can get the same treats as you used to get via FoodPrint directly from their website (when stock is available).

Yesterday we rescued our first mixed bag, and it goes to show how often we frequent Rudi’s when you are greeted with your mixed bag, and the comment “we know you like the sweet treats, so made sure to give you a good selection!”

Mornings have been a little brisk lately, but shouldn’t stop the wheels turning (just pedal a little faster or turn down the e-assist 🤭).

Yesterday morning was a quick 12km dash across town and back for an early morning meeting before stopping past Go Eco on the way home to check in on progress of their latest waste minimisation project and collect some equipment I left behind in June. Whoops

Home for morning tea courtesy of Volare Bread & Other Baked Goods (sorry no photo, the Morning Bun didn’t last long) but it definitely fuelled up the reserves ready for some admin and an afternoon of trying to reorganise the workshop space.

We cannot forgot our home athletes, some very impressive riding from the Scots in the Velodrome yesterday resulting in more 🥇🥈🥉.

With a significant rise in the number of thefts, now is a great time to consider upgrading your bike security.

We asked riders to give us one word to describe their bike.
The word that came back the most was FREEDOM. People who ride bikes say that the feeling of freedom is the one they associate most with riding. The bike gives us the ability to go where we want, when we want. There are no fees to pay, no schedules to meet and the feeling of freedom that comes with the ability to decide. Don't loose your freedom by having your bike stolen, a tracker will let you know where your freedom is at all times.

When we think of good and supportive cycle infrastructure we often think of places like or as the leaders, but increasingly we are seeing the major cities across Europe and even further afield spending large portions of their infrastructure budgets to support sustainable and active travel.

Visiting , , and it was exciting to see how good, supportive and connected infrastructure supports the the abilities of being able to freely move around a city by bike, scooter or other wheeled device.
This is NOT always at the expense of regular vehicles (cars, vans trucks) but giving OPTIONS for both to work alongside.

Bike/Scooter share schemes are massive in all four cities, with several providers offering a variety of device choices. Need to pick up a big box, book a Cargo bike from the rack at the end for the street. Heading into city centres around to watch a concert or go for a swim, use the secure parking facilities outside.

For many European city residents, they do not have the space for parking of bikes in or at their homes, so hire schemes are convenience, easy and cost effective. When people want private bike ownership we are beginning to see more installed. These consume one regular car park space, but offer secure parking for multiple bikes from multiple nearby resisidences. Spaces are often rented by the local authority so their revenue is not affected and is likely to be higher than if the space was used by cars.

Many of these cities have until recently been heavily dependant on car and vehicle transit, but times are changing. Paris now has almost 1000km of dedicated cycling paths most of which has appeared in the last decade, choosing to promote and encourage modal shift.
UK cities like London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow are all following suit, some projects with more success than others, but what was evident across each city, if the network exists and it is connected end to end, side to side taking riders to the places they need to go, and visit in their communities then the paths get used and by an increasing number of daily users.
