Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari is a world-class conservation and ecotourism destination that was established in 2001. Showcasing an ancient, vibrant, pest-free forest, the 3363ha maunga that is alive with native wildlife including many of Aotearoa’s rarest and most endangered taonga species.
These Ranger positions will include:
3-4 days paid Ranger employment for three to six months at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari.
Potential to study alongside this, by negotiation
Placement start date: early May (though this could be negotiated)
Training and development opportunities as a Ranger in Pest, Operations and Species Management
To be the right fit for this position you must be a person who is willing to get the job done. You will be able to work with a small, passionate, professional team to ensure effective pest surveillance procedures, monitoring, pest incursion responses and reporting. Additionally, the following attributes are also required:
A passion to work with others to help protect and enhance Maungatautari.
Physically fit
Proven proficiency in the use of technology
17 years of age and NZ Drivers Licence (Restricted or Full)
You must be able to demonstrate your commitment and ability to incorporating a strong component of tikanga and kaitiakitanga within the operational programmes

Whanau Awhina Plunket online Babysitting Course
Plunket Education in Schools’ Babysitting Course is available for teenagers all over Aotearoa.
This course is designed to give high school students the knowledge and skills to babysit children of all ages. It's written for first time babysitters; students don't need to have previous experience to enrol.
The course ideal for students aged 14 and above and takes around 2-3 hours to complete.
Students work through nine sequential modules and on completion of the course and the final quiz will receive a certificate certified by Whanau Awhina Plunket to show employers that they have completed this course and are ready to babysit. As well as the certificate the students are sent a Babysitter's Manual that supports all the information they have learned in the course.
During the course the following topics are covered:
• the role of the babysitter, including the expectations of the families you are working for
• ages and stages of children from birth to school age, their basic needs and their care
• professional behaviour including your presentation
• how to engage with children of different ages, including activities for each age group and
behavioural information
• safety, including emergency situations, keeping yourself and the children safe, and basic first aid
• how to get a babysitting job.

In the Printing Assistant role you will be involved in the finishing of innovative, flexible packaging products (like the bag your potato chips, coleslaw or muesli bars came in). This role has rotating shifts – morning, afternoon and night.
On the job you will:
Load material on and off machines
Perform safety checks and specification checks on machines
Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift
Ensure stocks of material are available and ready
Create and maintain activity logs, including quality checks
Provide progress information to printer
Look for ways to problem solve and improve efficiencies
Report any problems relating to machine or materials to team leaders
The Machine Operator role is a mix of hands-on machine operation (setting up extrusion lines, doing job changes, solving problems) and quality control. Again, all training will be given. Various shifts available: 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm or 10pm to 6am.
