Osu WCK!!!

I might be a little late to the party—there’s already been plenty of buzz about the 2026 NZ Kyokushin Karate Championships over the weekend—but I couldn’t let it pass without sharing how incredibly proud I am of everyone involved.

A huge congratulations to all competitors, and especially to our 10 WCK representatives who stepped up and gave it everything on the day.

The weather may not have been on our side, but once the action kicked off on the tatami, nothing could dampen the intensity and spirit on display.

Out of our team of 10 fighters, we brought home an impressive 8 trophies—an outstanding achievement. But beyond the medals, what really matters is the experience gained. Every one of us left with valuable lessons, sharper insight, and a clearer path forward on what we need to do to keep improving.

This result wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support behind the scenes. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the team and contributed through sponsorships, raffles, and fundraising—you made a real difference in helping us achieve our goals.

To our supporters who made the trip to Wellington—thank you. We had a strong WCK presence, and your energy and encouragement did not go unnoticed. It meant a lot to every competitor.

A special thank you to Sheryl for representing WCK and playing a key role in helping the tournament run so smoothly.

And lastly, to everyone involved in organizing and running the Championships—WCK truly appreciates all your hard work and dedication in making this event such a success.

I am not sure about you, but I am looking forward to our next challenge. Let's go and get it!!

Morena wck whanau

I really enjoyed last night's training hope you all learnt something too! Not long now fighters for tournament and supporters. One thought. If you take the position that everything in karate has a fighting application there is a lot to discover and your karate will grow stronger.
