From Daffodil Dash, our All Hallows Chapel Centenary to Annie, academic achievements, performing arts awards and sporting successes, it has been nine wonderful weeks of connection, joy and achievement throughout Term 3 🤩

🏃‍♀️🏃‍PODIUM FINISHES & BIG EFFORTS AT ROTOKAURI SCHOOL 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍➡️

A team of our students ran their hearts out yesterday at the Waikato Full Primary Schools Cross Country Championships. Every runner gave 100%, emptied the tank and some earnt outstanding individual placings:

🥇 Charlotte Bell – 1st Place (Year 8 Girls)

🥈 Emily Aquilina – 2nd Place (Year 7 Girls)

🥉 Alexa Sanders-Edwards – 3rd Place (Year 8 Girls)

What a finish to the Inline Hockey season! 🛼🏒✨
Wednesday’s Finals Night was an incredible success and our teams brought their absolute best to the rink! Here’s how the action played out:
Peewee Division: Southwell Sonics finished their season on a high note with a fantastic win in their final game! 🥇
Division 3/4: Southwell Spartans and Southwell Saints went head to head in a hard fought semi-final. Southwell Saints took the win and progressed to the final and earnt the Silver Medal! 🥈
Division 1/2: Southwell Sabres and Southwell Scorpions also met in an electric semi-final. Southwell Scorpions prevailed and went on to win the Division 1/2 Championship Title! 🥇
A big THANK YOU to all our players, parents and supporters. Your dedication, cheering and encouragement made this season such a rewarding experience for everyone involved 💙🖤🤍

🎨✨ Creativity and Kindness in Action ✨🎨
Over the weekend, Y7 student Sophie transformed some of her spare time into something special by creating this beautiful piece of art of our Chapel. In a kind gesture, Sophie gifted it to Chaplain Blythe Cody, who is finding a special place to display it. 💙
Such a lovely example of using creativity to bring joy and brighten someone else’s day 🌟

Year 5 students recently came together to share their incredible learning from ‘Earth on the Move’, exploring how living in a dynamic landscape requires communities to prepare, adapt and respond. They then welcomed some visitors who helped bring this learning to life.
Students learnt about the important role of a Civil and Environmental Engineer and how natural disasters can lead to water contamination, heard from Police Officers about their role in supporting communities during times of crisis, and explored emergency preparedness and Grab & Go Bags with Civil Defence. A very special service dog also joined the students, giving them insight into how these incredible animals support their owners! 🐕‍🦺
A huge thank you to the visitors for sharing their knowledge and expertise. 🙏🏼

Combining Innovation with Thoughtful Kindness 💙🖤🤍

Harrison and Parker put their 3D printing talents to work, crafting an impressive lineup of sea creatures from detailed dolphins and sharks to impressive stingrays. 🐬🔨😉🦈

Instead of keeping their creations, they generously donated the collection to Mrs Bindon's Golden Ticket Treasures as reward choices for their fellow students. Thank you, boys, for using your innovation to make our school community extra special! 🤩👍

🎉 Next Level Achievement for Aria 🎉

We are incredibly proud to share the wonderful news of Aria’s outstanding achievement at the National Speech Competition, held at the University of Auckland.

Competing against 45 Year 5 & 6 students from schools across New Zealand, Aria made it through to the final six. The competition consisted of two challenging rounds; a prepared speech and an impromptu speech, where students were given their topic on the spot.

Aria performed exceptionally well and was thrilled to be awarded 🥉 3rd place in the National Speech Competition!

We are so proud of Aria for challenging herself, performing under pressure and representing her school on a national stage.

🌟 Southwell Riders & Ponies compete at the NISS Equestrian Cup 🌟

Recently some of our students represented Southwell in the Intermediate section of the NISS Equestrian Cup at the National Equestrian Centre in Taupo. Competing in a massive field of around 600 riders and ponies throughout the week, our riders delivered phenomenal performances across multiple disciplines.
