A place for parents and wider community of Horotiu School to find out what events are coming up and what help is needed for those events.

Horotiu School, is a small primary school just north of the base in Hamilton, New Zealand. We wanted to welcome the wider community by having a place where parents teachers and the wider community can come to see how they can contribute to the Gala each year. We will be announcing when help is needed and what you can contribute.

Well, what a day! Thank you to all those who came out and supported our Horotiu School Gala Day today.

Blessed with Horotiu’s traditional blanket of fog, our Kapa Haka group opened the event with karakia and waiata. The 9am bell went and all stalls, activities and garage sale flooded with people keen to use their tickets and support the day.

We appreciate all our sponsors who generously gave goods and services, our school whaanau who donated items through recent weeks, parents, staff and local community businesses who manned the stalls and to all those who booked this date in their calendar! Your support is not lost on us. What a lucky little school we are.

We will be in touch in the next couple of days with all those who successfully bid for silent auctions and tenders and also those who won the raffles.

Thank you one and all! Horotiu School community striving together for success once again!

HOROTIU SCHOOL GALA THIS SUNDAY 9am-1pm!

Our Horotiu School Kapa Haka group will be opening the Gala with karakia and a performance from approximately 8.55am! Come early and enjoy the chance to see our team in action! Following this the bell will ring at 9am, stalls will open and the Gala will begin.

We run a ticketing system for stalls - we ask people to bring CASH ONLY please and purchase tickets from one of our three ticket booths. We do not have Eftpos or cash out facilities.

We will be opening the ticket booths slightly earlier than 9am to help reduce queues and waiting time. All others will
open at 9am. Please note we do not refund unused tickets.

Also, please bring your own shopping bags to carry purchases. This is much appreciated and is more environmentally friendly.

Dogs are unable to be on-site. Please make arrangements to leave them at home.

There will be some parking on the back field (via the main school carpark) or along the roadside. The weather looks to improve - we go ahead rain or shine!

Just a reminder of what we have: The fire engine will be onsite (but on call if needed) for kids of all ages to come in, sit on, perhaps spray the hose and view. We have Sam and his Farmyard Friends joining us again for children to pet the animals and enjoy pony rides.

There’s also the Chairoplane, Bouncy Castles, Jar Game, Quickfire Raffles, Kids-themed Garage Sale, Facepainting, Moko Stencilling, Family Clothing Sale, Raffles, Tenders, Silent Auctions, Mystery Envelopes, Cake and Produce Stall, Icecream Sundaes, Sausage Sizzle, Food Truck, a Drift Cart on display, Coffee Cart, as well as access to our water play park and all three of our playgrounds plus more!

Thank you to all our sponsors, supporters and helpers. Please repay their generosity by supporting our sponsors when and where you can. We are raising money to purchase resources that support practical learning and brings learning alive even more for our students. What better cause than our kids?!

See you Sunday! It’s going to be lots of fun!
