How good is warm, nourishing vegetable soup on a chilly Waikato day? Well according to the children who worked together to make a delicious vegetable soup, we had some great feed back as they slurped' their soup... "So yum" "Can I have more?" "Yummy carrot" 'I'm smashing it. I think I liked the soup... very much' "Tastes nice" "I like onion"
With some children coming back for 3rd, 4th and even 5th helpings!! We had a great time together preparing the veges, cooking them up and of course, eating the soup!

Our Kindy Matariki Celebrations.

We had a fantastic evening with whānau as we gathered together in community to celebrate Matariki - a special time of reflection, remembrance, gratitude, and hope for the year ahead.
As a Christian Kindergarten, we give thanks to God for His many blessings and for the gift of family, community and creation.
Matariki reminds us to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look forward with faith, hope and love.

Our tamariki have shown a real interest in learning about the moa, the incredible flightless that were found only in Aotearoa New Zealand.
After doing some research together, we discovered that the Giant Moa could grow up to 3.7m tall!
One of our kaiako drew a life-sized outline of the giant moa on the ground. Beside it, we measured 3.7m and invited the tamariki to lie alongside the measuring tape. They were amazed to see just how enormous these birds were!
We had a visit from one of our Kindy dad's who showed us some real moa bones from his perso al collection. This was a very special hands-on learning experience for the children.
The tamariki learnt about where moa lived, what they ate, and why they are now extinct. They were especially fascinated to learn about the gizzard stones that moa swallowed to help grind up and digest their food. We held the gizzard stones as well as being able to touch a baby moa toe and claw. This hands-on experience made the learning even more meaningful and sparked lots of curiosity and questions from the tamariki.

Our tamariki (children) are quite curious about snakes at the moment. On a recent trip to South Africa, one of our kaiako's (teacher) shared fascinating photos and facts about the many snakes found there, adding to the children's growing knowledge and ongoing interest.

They learnt that the Black Mamba is one of the world's most dangerous snakes and gets its name from the black colouring inside its mouth. They were also intrigued to discover what an albino snake looks like. The children enjoy reading books about snakes with teachers, playing with rubber snakes, and learning exciting new words such as reptiles, venomous, non-venomous, cold-blooded, and shedding.

Through these experiences, our tamariki are expanding their literacy, scientific thinking, and understanding of the amazing natural world around them.

Over the past two weeks, our Bible reading times have focused on prayer as we explored the Lord's Prayer and Hannah's prayer. Through these stories, the children discovered that Jesus taught us how to pray and that Hannah faithfully prayed to God for something very special. Together, we learned that prayer is simply talking to God. Even though we can't see Him, we can talk to Him anytime, anywhere, about anything. It is always so heartwarming to hear the children pray. Their childlike faith, honesty, and trust remind us of the beauty and simplicity of coming to God just as we are.

I wanted to share a few photos from our wonderful Prince and Princess day last week. The fort became a castle with Prince and princess watched the jousting down below. Inside the blocks became castles with paper fire turrets, royal art and craft and lots of ball room dancing in our very fancy royal outfits.
