DAY FOUR | HISTORY MADE AT ST. PAUL’S!
What a day. What a tournament. What an achievement.
Day Four at Zone 2 Regionals tested our boys right to the end.
Our semi-final against Hamilton Boys’ High School didn’t go the way we had hoped, with the boys going down 65–58. But this group has shown all season that they know how to respond.
And respond they did.
The 3rd place playoff against St. John’s College was an absolute battle. The boys trailed throughout the game, but refused to go away. They dug deep in the fourth quarter, fought all the way back and sent the game to overtime at 87–87.
With everything on the line, the boys stayed composed, trusted each other and found another level, coming away with an incredible 97–93 overtime victory.
3RD IN ZONE 2. NATIONALS BOUND. HISTORY MADE.
For the first time in school history, our Senior Premier Boys have qualified for the BBNZ AA Secondary Schools National Championships, finishing an incredible Regionals campaign on the podium.
This achievement represents countless hours of training, preparation and commitment from this group throughout the season. A massive thank you to Coach Jaxson, Mr Neethling, Coach Maioro, Physio Liam, Referee Alana and Manager Ally for everything they have poured into this team.
And to our parents, whānau, teachers and supporters who have backed the boys every step of the way, thank you. 💛🖤
To our boys, you made history. You showed resilience when you were behind, composure when the pressure was at its highest, and most importantly, what can happen when a group truly believes in each other.
We could not be prouder.
Next stop, Palmerston North. Bring on Nationals. 💛🖤
