Our teachers are so dedicated, they are spending their Saturday at a professional learning and development day. We are passionate about learning and being the best kaiako for our tamariki. Watch this space for all the new and wonderful ways we have learnt to teach!

Happy seven year anniversary to Jules! Jules started here as a relief teacher and before long we saw her incredible talent for working with our littlest learners. Jules had worked as a home based educator for many years before joining BVK. Before long she has completed her teaching degree and is now almost about to gain her full teaching registration. Jules does amazing work with our babies, attending to their needs, supporting them to gain trust when they are away from their families for the first time and supporting whanau to develop great routines. How lucky we are to have you Jules!
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, took on a new twist today as our kaiako Sam and Tash punctuated the story with an original soundscape! Two elements which grow big brains are reading and music making this a powerful learning tool.

Our team have some new uniforms! Sadly our chiffon uniforms aren’t available any more so we have a new look in a range of colours.
Our preschool children have been exploring their interest in rugby and team sports. Our teachers have guided understandings about fairness and equity, being gentle and kind and other social skills. Here is what they have been learning as described by our tamariki.
When we say karakia we use all three of New Zealand’s offical languages.
It’s New Zealand Sign Language week and here at BVK we use a lot of sign to communicate with tamariki. Using sign makes words tangible and scaffolds language development for children. We use a lot of sign to reinforce our words and this is part of how we create a language rich environment. Language rich environments grow big brains, wired for communication.

Congratulations to JaeJae who has achieved her full teaching registration!!! JaeJae started here in 2018 as a student teacher. She completed her studies and moved to Thailand for a few years to explore the world before returning to us in 2024. We are so lucky to have JaeJae working with our Pepi. Her kindness, empathy and attention gives our babies the very best foundation to flourish. It has been such a pleasure to mentor JaeJae through her teacher training and provisional registration and we are all so so proud of her.

I am very pleased to announce that we have appointed a new team leader in our Puna Room (Infants). A huge congratulations to Larissa Bishop. Larissa has been the incumbent infant teacher since we opened over eight and half years ago. From the day Todd and I interviewed Larissa we knew that she was the embodiment of a Borman Village Kids teacher. Larissa was a brand new beginning teacher when we employed her as the only teacher in our infant room and she has been critical in setting the tone, philosophy, leading pedagogy and best practice as the team and room grew with her. Larissa has been fully registered for quite some time now and has been honing her skills as a leader for the past few years taking on more and more areas of responsibility. Larissa has the knowledge, skills and attitudes of a Borman Village Kids Leader and I am so excited for this next chapter with her.

Happy Anniversary, Georgia 💛
Seven years ago, Georgia chose Borman Village Kids as a place to volunteer and we’ve never let her go! What began as a part-time role while studying quickly grew into a full-time passion, especially when she found her place in the toddler room.
Over the years, we’ve watched Georgia become a qualified, fully registered teacher, and celebrated alongside her through her engagement to Paul and becoming a mum to Daisy.
Georgia, you are a truly special toddler teacher. The care you show in supporting emotional regulation and nurturing early friendships has shaped the lives of so many tamariki. We are so lucky you chose us . 💛
