🏀⚽🏊♂️🏉 Term 4 Sports Registrations are OPEN! 🏉🏊♂️⚽🏀
Exciting news, St Joseph’s families — Term 4 sports are ready and waiting for your little athletes!
⚠️ Registrations close 1st September — don’t miss out! Spots fill fast, so get in quick before the deadline.
A quick note on Basketball:
Only currently registered teams will be rolled over. Current players who’ve been with us all year get first priority. Any remaining spots will then be offered to families on the waiting list.
The sports on offer:

We need YOU! 🙌
As always, these sports simply can’t happen without parent support. Please have a think about whether you could help as a coach or manager. These roles are often shared between a couple of parents — perfect for spreading the load (and covering those inevitable sick days!).
Let’s get the kids moving, laughing, and making memories this Term 4. Register now before it’s too late! 🌟
Please note: All Year 7/8 sports are played under the Saints United umbrella and are organised separately from St Joe’s sports. Please contact saints@stjosephs for more information.

Cross Country 2026 - Thursday 20 August at Porritt Stadium
Kia ora koutou,
We are looking forward to a great whole school Cross Country event at Porritt Stadium next week on Thursday 20th August.
Transport: There are two options:
1. Parents can take their child/ren straight to Porritt Stadium from 8:30 - 9.30am. It really helps us if you can take your children to the venue!
There will be some teachers at Porritt Stadium from 8:30am to sign the children in. We anticipate the rest of the school will arrive by approximately 9.30am. Please do not drop your child off early as there will not be supervision. This option is designed for those parents who will be coming to Cross Country to support. Please bring your children to the Grandstand and stay with them. We encourage parents to join us. There will be a coffee cart!
2. School vans will depart school from 8.45am. There will need to be several van runs; we anticipate that the whole school will be at Porritt Stadium by 9.30am-9.45am. If your child will be travelling in the vans, just turn up to school at the normal time. We have booster seats available in the vans for those who need them. Please note that some children may also be transported in private vehicles driven by police vetted parents.
What to wear / bring: Students should come to Cross Country in their PE or house colour gear; they do not need to wear school uniform to school.
P.E. shirt or house-colour T-shirt with black shorts (no glitter/face paint etc)
Running shoes are optional.
Warm outer clothing and a jacket.
Their school bags with lunch and a drink bottle.
Getting back to school:
We know that some children will go home from Porritt Stadium with their families after their race, and that is fine with us. Just let a staff member know they are going home. Children can go with their own parents - they need prior permission to go with another parent. Please contact the class teacher about this.
Year 0-3 will come back to school in vans/cars at approximately 12.00pm
Year 4-8 will come back to school in vans/cars at approximately 2.15pm
Timings:
Events will start after the Year 4-8’s have walked the course. We anticipate this start time being around 10:30 am and will finish at approximately 2:00pm. Races will be run in the order below and will finish inside the stadium. We cannot give exact times for the start of races but will put out alerts before each race on the school app.
The order of races is:
New Entrant boys & girls - 300m approx
Year 1 boys & girls - 750m approx
Year 2 boys & girls - 1000m approx
Year 3 boys & girls - 1500m approx
Year 4 boys and girls - 2000m approx
Year 5 boys and girls - 2000m approx
Year 6 boys and girls - 2000m approx
Year 7 boys and girls - 2500m approx
Year 8 boys and girls - 2500m approx
At the end of each race, could you please refrain from coming onto the track as we have competitors finishing, teachers marshaling and the recording of results. You will be able to congratulate your child once they are off the track.
If you are able to help on the day marshalling the course for the year 4-8’s, could you please contact Mr Beaurepaire at: [email protected]

MID TERM BREAK - School Closed - Monday 17 August 2026
A reminder that our school will be closed on Monday, 17th August 2026 for our scheduled Mid-Term Break.
This break is set during the winter term that has no public holidays, with everyone’s wellbeing in mind. Approximately 12% of our students are away with winter illnesses at the start of this week. The mid term break is a 'circuit breaker' to help reduce student illness and recharge everyone for the second half of Term 3.
School resumes as normal on Tuesday 18 August.
