Kia ora koutou.Greetings!
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on a successful Term Three! We have been very impressed overall with the way the students have been engaged in their learning this term and have consistently demonstrated our school values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga. We are now looking forward to Term Four and the teachers have already been busily planning some fun and engaging learning for our students to enjoy. We have a number of events coming up next term including our House Athletics, annual International Cultural Day, House Connections Days and Colour Run, WIMS Competitions and, of course, the Year 8 Ball which is always a highlight of the year. It is hard to believe that our Year 8 students have only one more term with us before they head off to high school!
A massive thank you to all those parents and caregivers who were able to assist on our recent school camps. The students had a blast and we could not have provided this experience for our students without all of your assistance. A big thanks also to all of our parents/caregivers for the time and preparation getting your child ready for camp - this was also much appreciated. Hopefully the students will take away some lifelong memories and will look back fondly on their experience.
On behalf of the staff and students, I would like to congratulate Izaya Hokianga on receiving the Altrusa Citizenship Award for Fairfield Intermediate for the 2026 school year. Izzi will officially receive his award at a ceremony held at the Hamilton Gardens early next term. As you can imagine, in a large school this is not an easy decision for all involved. Izzi certainly deserves this accolade for being such an outstanding Fairfield Intermediate citizen and for consistently demonstrating our school values. Well done Izzi - we are super proud of you!
A big congratulations to our WIMS basketball team who competed in the WIMS competition recently. They came a commendable second place, after going into overtime! A big congratulations also to our chess team, who after winning two regional championships, are now off to national competitions. Well done and good luck boys!
To conclude, I would like to say a big thank you for all of the support we have once again received this term from our school community. We highly value your support and the partnership between home and school. Thanks also to the staff for all of your hard work this term - I feel very privileged to work alongside such an amazing team! The whanaungatanga you display helps to make Fairfield Intermediate the great place it is to be. Big thanks also to our student teachers who have joined us this term - we thank you for your contribution and all the best for the next steps in your teaching journey.
I would like to wish you all a great holiday break and we look forward to seeing you safe and sound back at the beginning of Term Four, ready for another fun and exciting term!
