🏆 CHAMPIONS! Today marked a remarkable occasion at the Wims Chess Tournament! 🏆
Intermediate and middle schools from across the Waikato congregated at Berkley Normal Middle School for seven rounds of intense and fierce competition. Fairfield Intermediate entered two teams—and our incredible A-Team won the entire tournament! 🥇🎉
A massive congratulations to our players who showed absolute mastery on the board:
The Undefeated Quad: Four of our players—Bruce, Dun Dun, Anyi, and Abheek—went completely undefeated, each gaining a maximum 7 points!
⭐ Special shoutout to Bruce Wang, who was the very first player in the tournament to complete this incredible feat!
📈 Biggest Gainer: Tommy Li took home this title for boosting his rank by an impressive 23 points!
💥 Biggest Upset: Aanav secured this title after playing a brilliant game to defeat a much higher-ranked opponent!
It was an exceptional day filled with high-level, competitive games. All of our players performed admirably, with the majority of our losses only coming from when our two Fairfield teams had to play each other!
More importantly, our students remained composed and dignified throughout the day, beautifully displaying our school values both during and between games.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported our players, and another massive congratulations to both teams for an amazing performance today! ♟️💪❤️

A huge congratulations to our 2026 Fairfield Sports Enrichment Squad! You all went above and beyond this week. Your hard work, determination, teamwork, and resilience paid off as we were crowned the overall winners! 🥇✨
It was a challenging week filled with tough competition, early starts, and plenty of opportunities to step outside our comfort zones. However, our students embraced every challenge and put in the mahi from start to finish. We are incredibly proud of the way you represented Fairfield with pride, sportsmanship, and mana throughout the week. ✊🔴⚫

What a huge day of competition and success for our team! 🇳🇿✨
The day started with a dramatic game of Longball against Glen Eden. After a hard-fought battle, we came away with the win and secured ourselves a place in the finals! 🏆
Here is how the rest of our incredible day unfolded:
⚽ Human Foosball: An intense contest where our students played with plenty of mana, determination, and teamwork, finishing in the top two!
🏐 Netball: Our girls took to the court with confidence and pride. Despite a strong performance and giving everything they had, they were narrowly defeated 9–7 by Mount Maunganui. The girls left nothing in the tank and should be incredibly proud of their effort and sportsmanship.
🏀 Boys' Basketball: The boys were locked in from the opening whistle. In one of the most exciting games of the day, the match went into overtime before Leo scored the winning layup, sending the boys through to the final and sparking huge celebrations from the sideline! 🥳
⚽ Football: Next up was a tough match against a strong Mount Maunganui side. Our team created several opportunities and worked tirelessly, but despite their efforts, couldn't find the back of the net. Mount Maunganui scored early and held on for the win. Our team showed great resilience, heart, and determination right to the final whistle.
🏉 Tag & Touch: Both our girls' and boys' tag teams played outstanding semifinals, with the boys earning themselves a place in the final! The momentum continued into touch rugby, where the boys also secured a semifinal victory.
📣 Evening Spirit & Finals: The excitement didn't stop tonight! Our students proudly performed our camp cheer, bringing plenty of energy, hype, and school spirit.
We then moved into the evening finals, where both of our basketball teams were crowned champions after fantastic performances! Our girls followed this up by winning the volleyball final, while the boys' volleyball team is still waiting to take the court. 🥇🏆
We couldn't be prouder of the way our students have represented our school. Their effort, resilience, teamwork, sportsmanship, and willingness to give everything a go have been outstanding. No matter the result, they continue to make us proud every step of the way! 💙

🏉 WIMS Rugby Tournament! 🏉
What a massive day of rugby for our WIMS team! They left everything out on the field, showing incredible grit, determination, and teamwork from the first whistle to the last.
Here is how the day unfolded:
Game 1 vs. Berkley: A tough-fought battle to kick off the tournament, but the boys locked in and secured a fantastic 10-5 win against Fairfield Intermediate!
Game 2 vs. Matamata: We had all the momentum and advantage in this one, but a late, lucky try from Matamata levelled the scores to finish in a 10-all draw.
Game 3 vs. Te Awamutu: Te Awamutu jumped out to an early lead. The boys dug deep and tried their absolute best to claw it back, but it wasn’t quite our game, finishing in a 20-5 loss.
🏆 The Semi-Final vs. Maeroa
Talk about a game of two halves! At halftime, the boys were staring down a tough 15-0 deficit. But instead of dropping their heads, they dug incredibly deep in the second half, stuck strictly to our systems, and mounted an epic comeback. We fell just short, finishing 15-14, meaning the team placed an impressive 3rd equal overall!
A massive effort by the boys today—you should all be incredibly proud of the character you showed.
A huge thank you to all the parents, families, and supporters who braved the fog and cheered the team on all day.

EPro8 Grand Final: An Incredible Effort at Mokoia Intermediate!
Last night, our team gave it their absolute all at the EPro8 Grand Final hosted at Mokoia Intermediate. The students put in a phenomenal amount of hard work and brainpower against tough competition. It was an incredibly tight race from start to finish, with the separation between the bulk of the pack coming down to just one single stage of problem-solving.
The team showed fantastic resilience, keeping completely calm and focused through the entirety of a very high-stakes event.
A massive shoutout and huge thanks go to Whaea Josie for her immense commitment and guidance. We also want to send a huge thank you to all the parents who supported the team. You were absolutely great, and your support means the world to the team.
