Hello everyone, The Art of Patchwork will be holding a quilting class on the 6th & 7th of April 2019.
This class will have tutors covering Long Arm Quilting, Home Machine Quilting & Hand Quilting.
The class will be held at the Gordonton Hall.

these are some of the photo's from the foundation piecing class , the one in the front with the star in the centre belongs to Fiona it will be a beautiful quilt when it is finished, the one behind is an elephant , this one belongs to Pamela I will put up a photo of this quilt finished, this was amaziing , Pamela did hers in greys and Rose did hers in Kaffe Fassett fabric - beautiful - next two are from the Log Cabin class - Jan busy at work & Stephanie busy helping Jan with her quilt, then we have Pamela's finished elephant

Stephanie and I have sorted out the details for this class next year, here are the details

1. Two day class - 6th & 7th April 2019 ( Saturday & Sunday )
2. Venue will be Gordonton Hall
3. Time 9am – 3pm each day
4. Tutors – Linda Young – longarm quilting – Stephanie DeLacy – home sewing machine – Jeanette Raynor – Hand Quilting – Betty McLean will be the runner or if required I'll do a workshop or help anyone with a quilt they are having issues with.
5. Cost will be $120 for the two days
6. $50 deposit
7. will secure your expression of interest

Morning & Afternoon tea will be supplied, bring your own lunch or the Fire Pot cafe is just down the road from the hall.

Hi Everyone, Stephanie and I have been as busy as little bees with classes, I will be putting up some photos soon of the results, great students & wonderful work. Just to give everyone a heads up of one of our classes for next year, we will be doing a quilting class, long arm quilting with Linda Young as the tutor, quilting on home sewing machine with Stephanie as tutor & hand quilting with Jeanette Raynor as tutor, I will be the runner for the three groups, once we have sorted out the details I will do another post.

We are now taking registrations for our relaxing quilting weekend retreat at the beautiful Lake Karapiro.

Friday August 31st through to the 2nd of September 2018.

Betty and I are so excited to be able to bring this wonderful venue for you to enjoy for three days of creativity and fun at the Don Rowland centre Karapiro.

We have booked the Karapiro Room for our classes which is located on the second floor (There is a lift if required) of the Don Rowland Centre which has absolutley stunning views of Lake Karapiro from the wrap-around deck. Perfect venue for three days of relaxed “My” time.

We will stay for two nights at the Rob Waddell Lodge situated just behind the Don Rowland centre.

The Lodge has dormitory twin share style rooms with a fully self contained kitchen and offers beautiful views overlooking Lake Karapiro. Ideal for accommodation for a bunch of like minded quilters.

You will need to bring along your own bed linen and towels.

Program:

The Weekend will start at 4pm on Friday the 31st with setting up and after dinner we will work on a surprise sewing project to get you into the swing of the weekend.

Betty and I will supply the supplies for the surprise project and all you have to do is sew and have a load of laughs.

Saturday will be a full day of creating your choice of project. There will also be a show and tell of quilts from previous classes which is always inspiring to us all.

Sunday- completeting your project until its time to go home at 2pm, rejuvenated and ready to take charge of the rest of the year.

Lori Neels from Fat Backs will be coming along on Sunday with her beautiful backing fabrics and battings to tempt you.

Classes will include:

1 Fridays surprise project.

2 Do your own project and or problem solving.

3 A selection of small projects to choose from.

4 Folded Log Cabin dairy or note book cover.

5 Pieced block saver.

6 Crazy patch sewing bag.

All these projects can easily be completed over the weekend.



The retreat weekend will be $490.00 pp and will include:

Accomodation for Friday and Saturday.

Continental Breakfast Saturday and Sunday.

Lunch Saturday and Sunday.

Dinner Friday and Saturday

Morning and afternoon Tea each day.

Betty found a beautiful floral panel with wonderful co-ordinates begging to be made into a quilt and we decided it would make a great workshop to show how to turn a simple panel into a master piece for your bed.
As you can see this quilt is a perfect topper for a single bed or a throw for your couch.
We have kits to make the quilt or you may bring along your own panel.
If you purchase the kit for $85.00 we will give you the pattern free.
The kit includes all the fabric for the quilt top including the binding.
Pattern only will be $15.00.

English Paper piecing:

English paper piecing is all the rage at the moment and if you would like to learn how, please join us for a fun day hand stitching.
There is nothing nicer than to have a little bag of pieces to hand stitch while waiting for a appointment or traveling.
Bring along a pattern and fabrics for a English paper piecing project that you have always wanted to do, but didn’t know where to start.
We will cover the technique of fussy cutting, colour placement, whip stitching and assembly.
