Our Nature based philosophy and programme at Preschool is an important and much-loved aspect of our preschool life. In recent weeks children have adapted their learning from forest schooling excursions and have been appreciating 'papatuanuku' within our own preschool bush area on site. (manaakitanga, kotahitanga, and guardians of our space - kaitiaki) It has been special to see the younger children following along on these adventures and the older friends supporting and teaching them along the way.
We look forward to being able to continue with 'forest schooling' out in the community again as soon as we are able. In the meantime we are all enjoying our own space and the nature within our gardens and playground. This particular experience photographed shows the children initiating going on a dragon hunt, the day after sharing the story by Steve Smallman about a clan of Vikings heading across the land to find a dragon so they could make 'Dragon Stew'
Mana Reo (communication)

Another busy week at Preschool.
On Thursday was New Zealand Shakeout so at 9.30am we practised keeping ourselves safe by being a turtle. We all did the Drop, Hold and Cover. The staff were all super proud of everyone being strong advocates for keeping each other safe and well.
Mana Atua (Wellbeing)
Children will experience an environment where they are kept safe from harm. With support, guidance and encouragement children learn these strategies and emergency drills, allowing them to become capable of keeping themselves, friends and peers safe from harm.
