For generations, Playcentre has been powered by the dedication and aroha of volunteers. Parents, grandparents, and whānau come together alongside tamariki to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and nurture social and life skills through meaningful play. Our centre whānau volunteers are the heart of Playcentre and an invaluable part of every child’s early learning journey.

Our Education Programme support parents and caregivers to be their child's first and best educator, which is really what we're all about!
Our adult education is free, but as a charitable organisation, we rely on the support of people who believe in the power of play, connection, and community.
Donate today, and together, we can Power the Play for another 85 years: https://85years.raiselysite.com/

is here!
As well as being our 85th Anniversary, this year also marks a significant milestone for NZSL: 20 years since NZSL was recognised as an official language of Aotearoa New Zealand!
New Zealand Sign Language Week is not just a celebration; it’s a moment for the Deaf community to stand tall, embracing their identity and heritage. It’s a time to showcase the richness of NZSL and the diverse culture it represents.
There are heaps of online resources to learn from, including the Let's Talk booklets where you and your whānau can learn basic signs for everyday sitations: https://nzsignlanguage.nz/resources/lets-talk-booklets/
Every sign counts!
