Hello! I’m still here! Busy busy as always, so here’s a little look into my life over the past few weeks and a few facts about ME! With school holidays over I’m now back in action and ready to talk! 🛼I’m training to play Roller Derby and I teach skating to all ages
👩‍🎓I’m currently working on my Masters of Educational Leadership, focusing on coaching & mentoring, children’s literature and neurodiversity
🦄 I love a good dress up (ft recent pyjama day and Roller Derby Rock tournament)
👦 I have a 6 (nearly 7 🫣) year old son who loves a good nature adventure
📚 I’ve written 2.5 kids books and one is in the illustration process! Can’t wait to share it with the world!

I don’t know how I feel about this. Or do I? Let’s discuss!

This morning I thought “oop, better post something on my mentor page, it’s been a while!” I googled teacher quotes and this was the very first one that came up. It made me feel so many things at once. I agree. I disagree. But the more I think about it, the more I disagree with agreeing!!!

Why do teachers have to burn out, consume themselves, to benefit others? Why is this the norm? Why do we just conform to this ideal? Do any other professions have this expectation?

But we all do it, right? Or we condemn those teachers that don’t? Those teachers with work-life balance. They aren’t as good, are they? Not as committed. They don’t care enough. Not like us good ones.

This needs to change. It’s not healthy. I’m on this journey now. Realising my worth as a person and my boundaries within our profession. I truly believe this has way more benefit than burn out, for everyone involved! I urge you to do the same.

We are not candles for others to burn.

The cafe I attempted to study in on Monday is open today! Woo! I always wanted to be a fancy lady studying in a cafe 😂 Todays assignment is about personal values in leadership! So… what values do you see as important in a leader?! Let me know!

Ah, Mondays, am I right? This morning I packed up all my books and my laptop, walked to the local cafe with great motivation to finish an assignment I'm working on. The cafe was closed. Motivation gone. So, how's your Monday going?!

Who asks for feedback then cries about it... 🙋‍♀️ Me! I do! Thank you to this beautiful kaiako that I've had the absolute pleasure of working alongside for over 3 years!
