Health, Wellbeing and Pastoral Care Conference 2022 Inspires

Dr Kristyl Zagala presented on the research conducted and supported by a national Ako Aotearoa Best Practice Research Award that investigated cross-institutional implementation of the Whare Tapa Rima Student Support Model. The research highlighted the unique and positive impacts of the Whare Tapa Rima model on the holistic support of ethnically and culturally diverse students and staff in a higher education institute.

Tohungia Kara inspired attendees with her knowledge and experience in the holistic healing including mirimiri- the physical healing and rongoa- a collective range to benefit physically and spiritually. She has been working actively in creating safe healing spaces for wahine in the community and her work reflected the importance of wellbeing and self care.
