✨ Matariki in the Orange Room ✨

Our tamariki have been celebrating Matariki through collaboration, creativity, perseverance, participation, and coordination. Along the way, we’ve shared stories, remembered loved ones, and talked about our hopes and goals for the year ahead.

Yesterday, Kerrin joined us from Te Whare Taonga o Te Awamutu Museum and shared his amazing knowledge and stories about Matariki with our tamariki. ✨

There were lots of curious minds, great questions, and excited little learners discovering the meaning behind this special time of year.

✨The Yellow Room has been celebrating Matariki by learning all about the stars!

Our tamariki got creative, making a beautiful starry night sky and decorating lots of sparkling stars with glitter. It was a meaningful way to explore this special time of year while letting their imaginations shine. ✨

☀️ Inspired by the Legends of Māui! ✨

Our Blue Room tamariki have been captivated by Māori mythology, especially the story of How Māui Slowed the Sun. They brought the story to life by creating a beautiful Te Rā (the Sun) artwork, to be hung alongside Marama (the Moon) in their room.
A wonderful way to explore Māori culture through storytelling and creativity! 💙

🪁 Getting ready for Matariki! ✨

Our Green Room tamariki have been learning about the significance of kites during Matariki and why they are traditionally flown at this special time of year. They even had a go at weaving their own kites - what a fantastic way to explore Māori culture through hands-on learning! 💚🌟
