Congratulations Daisy, so deserved we are very proud of you!

The Altrusa Youth Award recognises Year 12 students from around the Waikato who excel in school life and are considered role models within their community.

This year, our Waikato Diocesan School Altrusa Award recipient is Daisy Zheng.

Daisy is an outstanding young woman whose kindness, dedication and service embody the very spirit of the Altrusa Award. She consistently demonstrates courtesy, positivity, and initiative and is admired by both her peers and teachers for her genuine warmth and humility.

At school, Daisy is fully committed to her academic studies, extracurricular activities, and leadership opportunities. She displays exemplary sportsmanship in cycling and basketball, encouraging and uplifting others with her words and actions. Beyond the classroom, she is a passionate volunteer, contributing her time and energy to events such as Relay for Life, the 40 Hour Challenge, Daffodil Day, and coaching basketball teams.

Daisy’s involvement reflects not only her strong work ethic but also her deep care for her community.

Her cultural leadership is equally remarkable. With a strong international perspective and creative flair, Daisy has contributed to Cultural Week, chapel services, and events that promote inclusivity and celebrate diversity. Whether through calligraphy, traditional Chinese celebrations, or organising student activities, she shares her knowledge generously and brings people together.

Daisy leads not always from the front, but through her quiet strength, encouragement and kindness. She is respected by her peers as someone who listens, remembers, and makes others feel valued.

She exemplifies the qualities of a servant leader: humble, hardworking, and always willing to give her best.

In every aspect of her life, schoolwork, sport, culture, volunteering and friendships, Daisy demonstrates the values of courtesy, positive attitude, sportsmanship, service, and kindness. She is an inspiring role model and a truly deserving nominee for Altrusa award.

Congratulations, Daisy!

Tonight we came together with our International students and their families, homestay families, our Agents and our staff and enjoyed a good old kiwi bbq. It was a lovely evening and we are looking forward to the next International event!

When we meet Judy for the first time on Monday she said “I love netball” 🏐.
So we organised with Judy’s dad for her to be picked up by our Director of International who took her to watch our Premier Netball team!
Judy loved it! 🥰
