Happy Matariki from everyone here at Kids Cave Early Learning Centre ✨🌟

Last Friday we celebrated Matariki with our tamariki and whanau with karakia(prayer), waiata(song), kanikani (dance) and shared kai(food) coming together to celebrate our Maori culture within our centre

Matariki is the Māori name for the star cluster commonly known as the Pleiades. Its mid-winter reappearance in the early morning sky marks the start of the Māori New Year. It is a time for remembrance, celebrating the present, and looking to the future.

🌟 Lantern Making
🌟Icing our Matariki Stars
🌟Writing our wishes for the new year
🌟Making colourful stars to guide our way
