So proud of “Supernova” from Southwell School for taking out the Waikato region of Bandquest! (Middle school band competition) They were three members down due to illness so Jess stepped up and learnt to sing both the songs the very same day! Gavin’s drumming was rock solid and James shredded it on the g*t.

The the other two Southwell bands were great also.

The remaining bands smashed it, and all showed huge amounts of talent, confidence, and musical collaboration! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the country has in store for us!

One of my students came to me and said “I’ve written a song for my Dad. Can we record it so I can play it to him on his birthday next week?”

As teachers it’s so important that we do everything we can to nurture talent like this.
