What’s your favourite speech you’ve heard?🗣️
"It’s hard to pick one particular speech. I enjoy speeches that tell a story and take you somewhere you weren’t expecting, especially when someone can take an ordinary life experience and turn it into something funny, meaningful or thought-provoking.
For me, a great speech isn't necessarily about being perfectly polished. It's about connecting with the audience and leaving them with something they'll remember".
What’s your #1 tip for new members and guests? 🔥
"Say yes before you feel ready. Put your hand up for Table Topics, take on a meeting role, give a speech and be willing to step outside your comfort zone. You don't have to wait until you're confident enough to do it, because often the confidence comes from doing it.
Toastmasters is a place where you can give something a go, get feedback, learn from it and try again. Everyone in the room wants to see you succeed".
What’s your favourite food? 🍴
"Shepherd's pie followed by caramel pinwheel for dessert🥧
Although these days it's usually cottage pie because beef mince is cheaper and easier to find than lamb. Apparently even my favourite meal has been affected by the cost of living!"
