Tai Poutini Polytechnic Vaccination Policy Review

Following review of our current Covid-19 Vaccination Policy including considering feedback provided and a risk assessment, the decision is that we will remove the requirement for vaccinations but continue with the requirements for mask use and social distancing.

The position, effective from Monday 16th May, will be that:

1. Unless required through legislation, proof of vaccination status will not be required to enter any TPP campus or site.

2. The TPP Policy 1.17 – Covid-19 Vaccination Policy will be temporarily suspended effective from Monday 16th May 2022.

3.Other measures (wearing of masks, social distancing, staff room restrictions, ventilation, etc.) will remain in place in the interim. These will be reconsidered when the indicator trends, particularly on the West Coast, start to trend down.

COVID-19 student and staff update: 5.00pm 13 April 2022
Kia ora koutou,

From 11.59pm tonight, 13 April all of New Zealand will move to Orange.

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen a sustained reduction in cases and hospitalisations despite the relaxation of settings. Under the COVID-19 Protection Framework, this means we can now move to the Orange setting.

AT ORANGE:
➡️There are no indoor or outdoor capacity limits at events.
➡️Face masks are still required for many indoor settings. Inside schools, face masks are not required but still encouraged.
➡️There are no changes to the 7-day self-isolation requirement, if you, or someone you live with gets COVID-19.
➡️Bars and restaurants are no longer required to enforce seated and separated rules, although they can choose to keep them.

Wearing a face mask at Orange is still important, especially with capacity limits removed. Next to being vaccinated and having a booster, face masks are the best defence against COVID-19 and reduce new cases by as much as 53%.

Traffic light settings will be reviewed in mid-May.

A REMINDER
Tai Poutini Polytechnic’s vaccination policy has now come into effect.

Only kaimahi, ākonga, visitors and contractors, who are vaccinated (and can provide evidence of such), are permitted on at Tai Poutini Polytechnic site. This does not apply to secondary school students who are involved in secondary-tertiary provision at a Tai Poutini Polytechnic Limited site, as per the Ministry of Education guidelines in the Covid-19 Protection Framework.
