❤️ What a special Grandparents’ Day at Mātai Rangatira, Glentunnel School! ❤️

We were thrilled to welcome more than 90 grandparents and special people, with some travelling from as far as Auckland and the lower South Island to join us.

The weather may not have played ball, but the love in the room certainly did! Our visitors enjoyed beautiful singing from the children before spending time together in their classrooms.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to our staff for making the morning possible. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to share their school with some very special people and create memories to treasure.

We loved having you with us! ❤️

For lunch on Tuesday 15 September:
🥧 $3.50 – Mince pie (optional tomato sauce)
🧊 $2.00 – Frozen Jucy
🥧🧊 $5.00 COMBO – Mince pie + Jucy

All profits go towards supporting our Year 5/6 Camp at Arthur’s Pass.

⏰ Orders and payment must be received by Monday 14 September at 3pm.

🎿 Skiing Update - Cancelled

Kia ora team,

Unfortunately, we’ve had confirmation that skiing will not be going ahead tomorrow.

Fingers crossed that the weather plays nicely and we can get up the mountain on Monday! 🤞❄️

In the meantime, please make sure your child has their ski pass and everything organised and ready to go for Monday.

Here’s hoping for some good mountain weather! 🏔️🎿

THE ELASTICS REVOLUTION IS BACK!

For some of us, there’s a serious dose of playground nostalgia happening at Mātai Rangatira right now. “England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales…” is back — and elastics has TAKEN OFF.

There is just one small problem… we have one set of elastics and a LOT of enthusiastic participants.

So, before we resort to cutting the elastic out of someone’s fitted sheet, we’re putting out a call!

If you have around 4+ metres of 1/4 inch elastic hiding in a sewing kit, cupboard or that mysterious drawer everyone has, and you’re happy to donate it, please drop it into school or send it along with your child.

It’s pretty great seeing a whole new generation discover a playground classic.

Next up: knucklebones? 😂

Mt Hutt Skiing Update

Unfortunately, we’ve had a call from Mt Hutt to let us know that the mountain will not be opening tomorrow due to the weather.

This means Session 2 of our Mt Hutt ski trip has been cancelled.

Fingers crossed the weather plays nicely for our third and final session next week! ⛷️🏂❄️

❄️ MALVERN WINTER TOURNAMENT – CANCELLED ❄️

Unfortunately, due to the weather, the Malvern Winter Tournament scheduled to take place in Darfield tomorrow has been cancelled.

Due to skiing and other events already in the school calendar, there will be no postponement date.

We know our tamariki were looking forward to competing alongside the other Malvern schools, so it is disappointing, but the weather has had the final say!

Please help us spread the word to any whānau who may not see this post.
