As they point to pictures and objects, and begin naming what they see, we can see so much learning happening. Tamariki are building their communication skills, developing their understanding of the world around them, and growing in confidence as they share their ideas with others.

Our little scientists have been investigating lava rocks through sensory and scientific exploration! We wondered:

Our tamariki had a wonderful time exploring and creating with moon sand! We mixed flour, oil, and green colouring to create a soft, mouldable texture that was perfect for sensory play. πŸ’š

The children then got busy using their hands to squeeze, press, mould, and shape the moon sand into all kinds of creations. πŸ‘πŸŒΏ

It was lovely to see the children sharing their ideas, creating alongside their friends, and enjoying lots of imaginative and sensory play together.

Through this experience, the children were developing their fine-motor skills, creativity, imagination, sensory awareness, communication, cooperation, and confidence. 🌟

This week our Under 2s discovered a snail hiding in our sandpit box. We took the opportunity to slow down, observe and wonder together before gently relocating our little visitor into the garden.

These spontaneous moments are full of learning β€” supporting our tamariki to develop curiosity, language, observation, empathy and respect for living things. ❀️

Our preschoolers had so much fun making their very own pizzas! From spreading the sauce to choosing their toppings and sprinkling on the cheese, every little chef added their own special touch. ❀️

Tiny hands, big learning! πŸ‘πŸΌβœ¨οΈ

Our toddlers are busy strengthening their fine motor skills through everyday play and exploration - fastening buttons and zips, gripping a spoon or spade, and carefully placing lids back onto felt pens.

These simple experiences help our tamariki develop their grip, grasp, hand-eye coordination, strength and control, while building confidence and independence. We intentionally provide lots of ako (learning) and hands-on opportunities, supporting the skills they need for everyday tasks and future learning.

Even the smallest can achieve great things.

Learning through play, one little movement at a time. ✨️

From measuring and mixing to squeezing fresh lemons our tamariki were busy exploring, creating, and learning together. They practised their fine-motor skills, communication, cooperation, counting, and following instructionsβ€”all while having lots of fun!

The best part? Of course, getting to taste their delicious creation! πŸ˜‹πŸ‹

🌿 Nature Printing Fun! πŸŽ¨πŸƒ
Our tamariki explored nature through art by creating beautiful fern leaf prints! Using shades of green and yellow paint, they experimented with pressing ferns onto paper and discovering the unique patterns and textures each leaf leaves behind.
There was lots of curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning as the children painted, pressed, peeled back the paper, and excitedly revealed their one-of-a-kind prints. This activity encouraged sensory exploration, fine motor skills, and an appreciation for the natural world around us.
What a wonderful way to combine art, nature, and discovery. We can't wait to display these vibrant masterpieces! πŸ’šπŸŒΏβœ¨
