Celebrating Father’s Day at Rimu

Today, we welcomed our Rimu fathers to our Father’s Day celebration with Coffee on the Go. It was a wonderful opportunity for our dads to meet other dads, enjoy a coffee, and have a chat before starting their workday.

One of the most special moments was seeing our dads receive the unique and meaningful gifts lovingly made by their tamariki. We loved hearing their reactions: “Did my child make this for me?” “Oh, I love it and I’m going to keep it!” “Such beautiful artwork!”

Through creating these special gifts, our tamariki had the opportunity to express their aroha and appreciation for the love, care, time, and contribution their dads bring to their whānau.

Happy Father’s Day to all our wonderful Rimu dads! We hope you feel very loved and appreciated. ❤️

This week, our preschool has been buzzing with creativity as tamariki prepare to celebrate Father’s Day! 💙 Tamriki made special cards, colourful heart and star collages, and painted paper ties, using art and words to express their love for Dad and whānau. Outdoors, they explored messy play with colours and flour, experimented with rolling balls over curved surfaces, launched parachutes from the tree house, and jumped across their colourful “rainbow lava floor.” Through reading, imaginative play, construction, and group games, our young learners shared their ideas and feelings while learning to respect each other’s boundaries. Every creation, conversation, and adventure is helping our little learners to Speak, Share and Shine! 🌟

What a fun Book Week we’ve had in our toddler room📚✨ Our little book lovers enjoyed exploring stories together, matching and discovering letters, and getting creative by making their own mini books and colourful bookmarks. 🎨📖
It was lovely to see tamariki sharing books, choosing their favourite pictures and characters, and enjoying stories together both indoors and outdoors. Lots of little hands, big imaginations and happy readers this week! 🥰🌈

🌺 Tonga Language Week in our Pōhutukawa Preschool Room! 🌺

Our tamariki have been enjoying exploring Tongan culture through music, movement, creative experiences, and play, while learning and connecting with their friends. Wednesday was a special highlight as we celebrated Bike Day, with children practising their riding skills, balance, coordination, and road safety. 🚲💛

Our Mānuka tamariki have been celebrating Tongan Language Week through art, music, movement and sensory play! 🎨🐢🎶

We have been making turtles, painting Tongan flags, dancing to Tongan songs and enjoying fizzy sensory play with shells. 🐚✨

We successfully celebrated a meaningful Grandparents Day with our wonderful Rimu grandparents today. Our grandparents joyfully joined our welcome mat time and enjoyed making sandwiches alongside our tamariki.

It was heartwarming to see our tamariki and grandparents sharing conversations, laughter, learning and special moments together. The beautiful memories and connections created across generations will be treasured for years to come.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful grandparents for making this day so special for our tamariki!

This week, we welcomed the Principal and Junior Team Leader from Glenfield Primary School to visit our preschool. They were impressed to see how confidently our Tipu tamariki engaged with kaiako during mat time, showcasing their learning skills, positive learning dispositions, and social and emotional competence.

Pathway to School is an important part of our Rimu curriculum. When tamariki turn four, they transition into our Tipu group and begin this special learning journey together with their whānau. Our Pathway to School programme is guided by Te Whāriki, the Evolve Promise, our centre’s key curriculum priorities, each tamaiti’s individual strengths and interests, and whānau aspirations.

We look forward to welcoming you and your tamariki into our preschool community and beginning this special Pathway to School journey together.
