A Huge Thank You to Tairāwhiti Civil Defence!
A couple of weeks ago, Makauri School had a special visit from Karl Scragg at Tairāwhiti Civil Defence, who dropped off a brand-new set of portable handheld radios for our school!
We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation. While we all sincerely hope we never need to use them in an actual emergency, we are thrilled to have them as part of our safety toolkit.
In the meantime, we are looking forward to putting them to good use at our upcoming school events, sports days, and trips!
Thank you, Karl and the team at Tairāwhiti Civil Defence, for looking after our school and helping us stay connected.

TOURNAMENT TRIUMPHS FOR MAKAURI!
What an absolutely fantastic day out in the sunshine at today’s interschool 7s tournament! Both of our teams left everything on the field, showing incredible determination, plenty of hard tackles, and some brilliant tries.
Here is how our amazing teams got on:
Our Girls Team (B Grade): In what was the very first taste of rugby for many of these girls, they absolutely smashed it to place 3rd overall! Watching their confidence and skills grow with every game was a massive highlight.
Our Boys Team (A Grade): Competing in a fiercely contested grade, the boys played out of their skins to go undefeated all day! They faced a tough Central team in a tense, nail-biting final, and despite falling behind early on, they dug deep, showed immense grit, and clawed it back to take the win!
Above all, our tamariki played with immense spirit, proud smiles, and beautifully displayed our school values both on and off the field. You have made Makauri incredibly proud!
A Huge Thank You:
To Herb for giving up his time and helping out with the coaching today. We appreciate your support and guidance for our players so much!
To all of our wonderful parents who helped with transport. We couldn't get our kids to these events without your awesome support!
To the PBRFU for organising such a fantastic day, and to the GBHS students who did an excellent job refereeing the matches.
Well done to everyone involved—what a day!
