This article is a gentle reminder that learning is a journey, not a race, for our tamariki. Every child develops at their own pace, and before they can confidently take on new challenges, they need time to strengthen and refine the foundational skills that are often taken for granted. These small but significant steps lay the groundwork for future learning, resilience, and success. By valuing and nurturing these early skills, we give our taonga the opportunity to grow, flourish, and reach their potential in their own unique way.

Magda Ge**er, an early childhood educator and founder of the Resources for Infant Educarers, (or "Educaring"), believed deeply in respectful, child-led development from the very beginning of life.
She reminded us that nature is one of the richest environments for learning—even for the youngest children. From shifting light and fresh air to the smallest movements of birds and insects, the outdoors offers meaningful, sensory experiences that help children adapt, grow stronger, and connect with the world around them.
