Tēnā Tātou Te Whānau
He pānui poto tēnei.
As many of you will know, Civil Defence has declared a state of emergency for our region as of 5.00pm.
Because of this our kura will not be opening as planned on
Tuesday 28 January. While some kaiako will be on site just in case any tauira arrive. The clear guidance from Civil Defence, our kaimahi, our BOT and me as Principal is simple. Please stay home, stay drive and stay safe.
It's a bit of a twist after all the beautiful weather we have been enjoying lately, but your wellbeing comes first.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to kura for an exciting 2026 once conditions improve and it is safe to do so. We will keep you posted regarding our new opening date.

Wear something PINK to kura apōpō whānau to support a safe and supportive environment.
Pink Shirt Day, held annually in May in New Zealand, is a campaign against bullying. On this day, people wear pink to show solidarity and support for a kinder, more inclusive society. The day aims to combat bullying in schools and workplaces, celebrating diversity and promoting positive relationships. Pink Shirt Day was inspired by a similar event in Canada where students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a student was harassed for wearing pink.
Key Points about Pink Shirt Day:
Anti-bullying focus:
Pink Shirt Day is primarily focused on combating bullying and promoting kindness.
Solidarity and support:
Wearing pink on Pink Shirt Day demonstrates support for those who have experienced bullying and encourages others to stand up against it.
Celebration of diversity:
The day promotes a more inclusive environment by celebrating diversity and understanding.
International recognition:
While Pink Shirt Day is most prominent in New Zealand, it has also inspired similar initiatives in other countries, including the International Day of Pink, which is more specifically focused on anti-LGBTQ+ bullying.
Fundraising and awareness:
Some organizations, like the Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand, also utilize Pink Shirt Day as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.
