This King's Birthday weekend, 19 Campion College Drama students travelled to Wellington to attend the SGCNZ VUW National Shakespeare Festival.
During the festival, students participated in theatre workshops led by industry professionals, watched performances from schools around New Zealand, and had the opportunity to perform on the iconic St James Theatre stage.
Campion students presented a 15-minute scene from Romeo and Juliet, directed by Jol Sparks, and a five-minute scene from Hamlet, directed by Year 11 student Emma Ruelens. They performed their innovative interpretations with confidence and flair, returning home inspired and full of ideas for next year.
A special congratulations to Year 9 student Lowenna Haskell, who achieved second place in the Creative Writing category of the national essay competition. Lowenna's short story successfully incorporated at least 20 phrases from the works of Shakespeare—an impressive achievement in a highly competitive field.
Congratulations to all students involved for representing Campion College so proudly.

Tomorrow is PJ Day! Students are invited to wear either m***i or pyjamas to school tomorrow as part of our Jammies for June fundraiser. We ask students to please bring either a gold coin donation or a new pair of pyjamas to donate.
All donations will go towards supporting children in our community who may be in need of warm pyjamas this winter. Thank you for helping us support others during the colder months.

A huge thank you to the New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) for their incredible support of $10,000 towards our tournament teams travelling to competitions across the North Island.
This generous contribution will help reduce the financial burden on whānau and ensure more of our students are able to represent Campion College and experience the many benefits that come through sport, teamwork, and competition.
We are extremely grateful for NZCT’s ongoing support of our students and wider school community.
