Anya update -

Taking advantage of the long weekend, she went on a day trip with Isa´s family to "El Palmar de Colón", located in the center-east of our province. This protected area (national park) was established in 1966 to preserve one of the last remaining groves of the native "yatay palm trees" on earth.

This week, we have welcomed back students from Saitama Municipal Omiya International Secondary School (MOIS). This is the third year of this wonderful partnership, with students joining us here at GHS.

A total of 155 students have travelled to Canterbury and taken part in a one-week programme across nine Canterbury schools. This year, our project was " friendship beyond words" looking at how friendships develop even with language barriers.

We have loved seeing the manaakitanga shown by our local students throughout the week. The friendships and support demonstrated have made this visit truly special.

Today, we traveled to Darfield High for the ultimate sumit with other rural schools to showcase their programmes this week.

As this visit comes to an end, we would like to thank our MOIS friends for sharing this week with us. We wish you safe travels home and look forward to continuing this successful partnership for many years to come.
