Had a great meeting in Chiang Mai with the education agency staff and parents of two current Thai students at Wakatipu High School.

Like the old saying, unfortunately all good things come to an end. Last Friday was time to say goodbye to some of our lovely students , many of them a group of German and Austrian girls and boys. Julia Bothschafter, Valentina Tripolt and Laurin Rossmann: you made a great impression on us and will be missed a lot! Please, keep in touch:)

Wakatipu High School is quite fortunate to have an amazing Outdoor Recreation team. Last weekend Mr. Ken McIntyre took our international students to the well known Routeburn track. The students were challenged by winter conditions but enjoyed one of the most beautiful views in New Zealand. Thank you Mr Mac for this amazing trip!

It is always a pleasure celebrate the achievements of our International Students Wakatipu High School. Nghia Hieu Vang (Max), from Vietnam, studied with us for three years, always with excellent academic results. In 2021 Max got entrance at University of Canterbury where he is doing his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronic. Such an inspiring international student, good on you Max!👏👏👏

Full circle. Some years ago our homestay parents Sally and Greg Miller and their lovely daughters Elsie and Maisie embarked for the first time in this amazing adventure of hosting an international student in Queenstown. Their first student was Hijiri Nishiwaki, from Japan. This year the whole family travelled to Tokio and Hijiri and her parents got to meet them there. The circle was complete and we are happy to see how strong the connections made between our international students and their host families are. Thanks Sally for the photos😍😍

Last week, 8 Year 12 International Outdoor Education students put their day tramp preparedness, weather assessment, and navigational skills into action by hiking the Mt Crichton Loop. They even got to experience off-track navigation using maps and compasses. It was a beautiful day and a successful outing as all students came prepared and successfully applied the skills they practiced in the classroom. The students are already looking forward to their next adventure, which will be snow caving.

Outdoor Education classes have always been one of favourite courses among our International Students Wakatipu High School. It wasn't different for Mona Kimura, our Japanese year 12 student. This week Mona and her classmates had a tramping activity and enjoyed Queenstown's breathtaking landscape. Well done, Mona!😀👏

This week was International Students Sport Day in Invercargill and International Students Wakatipu High School was there with our group of German, Brazilian, Thai, American, Chilean and Japanese young players. Badminton, golf, futsal, basketball. No matter the sport choice, the most important was to have heaps of fun. Well done, kids!

It is always good when not only the student but also the parents get to know International Students Wakatipu High School better. Last week we had our new student Choenkwan Methanukor coming from Thailand to have her first view of the the school. Her parents also had the opportunity to have a glimpse about the multiple opportunities Choenkwan will have while studying with us.

Our International Students Wakatipu High School enjoy to come to school every day but during the weekends they try to make the best out of Queenstown incredible landscape. Hanno Duevell, Gustav Waltermann and Hannes Ihmann spent the day going up to Ben Lomond to experience one of the most beautiful views of Queenstown. The adventure paid off😀
