Tip of the Week!

Make sure you save your cv as a PDF document and nothing else! Not word, not publisher, not photoshop. A PDF. Some operators don't have a word subscription and by not saving it as a PDF it will scramble when it's opened, especially if they're opening it on their phone.

PDF's are phone and computer friendly and will hold up with no distortion, it also means it can't be edited and modified.

Tip of the Week.

When writing a CV don't put your education history at the top!

I see a lot of CV's where people put down where they did their flight training and went to school even though they've been working in the industry for some time.
Even if you've only been flying 6 months - put that above your education. It's far more relevant than completing year 13, two years ago! Always start with your employment history - then your education!

I'm going to make these a weekly thing, also this is an opinion and not a must - I'm happy for this forum to be a healthy discussion as there is no right and wrong.

New blog up, as always feedback from both operators and pilots is appreciated. This is more some guidance on CV's for those who are new in the industry and just starting out.

Let's get this straight, a cv that served you well in New Zealand, will not serve you well here. You may not have to edit much, but please do not email a cv to operators that hasn't taken into consideration the Australian licence system. It's not too complicated I promise, and there is no 'Right or....

Something a bit different. A bit of a blog for pilots trying to get started in Australia.
Please check it out and share it with as many people as you can, I'm hoping to put up other posts and interviews from operators and as the page grows we will hopefully develop some funding from it to help fund 'Roger That' as a theory website like it was intended. It's in the early stages with out a domain name, but let me know what you think!

Ever expanding our ideas, my friend who is going through her line training said she struggles with the standard radio calls! Who doesn't at some point in training. How good would it be if you could book in a session with an actual ATC to practice calls in your own time?

Looking for your photos that have anything to do with flight training! Cockpit, classroom, cross country, anything goes! If you have some that you are willing for us to use on our website please drop them below!

Hey guys, even though you haven't heard from us in a while we are working hard behind the scenes! Right now we are beginning to develop some interactive animations! Obviously this isn't refined or to scale but we'd love to hear from you what you would like to see as an interactive animation!
Let us know below and if you like this idea!

A bit of an update here. The website is still under construction, however we have got hold of an animator and he will be helping us develop fun animations to supplement our instructors. We are definitely going to go down the road of an app, there will likely be two strands for the app - flip cards and games. Again we seek your feedback. What would you like to see animated and how?
Currently we are developing animations that can have elements that are changeable by you, I.E wind direction, temperature and speed.

Alrighty everyone!

So to kick things off we want to hear what you would want out of this website.

The current idea is to run live webinars once a week which you can tune in to, then have the live video archived to be able to watch it again. Students would be able to type their questions that are relevant to the lesson.

In addition to this, based on how much you pay you would have access to an instructor 1 on 1 to go through whatever you want.

Lastly we would like to develop an online work book to supplement Waypoints, with this there would be quizzes, in depth diagrams and mini videos.

If you're a student, feel free to leave us a comment below and tell us what you want to see! The earlier we know the better we can make this from the start!

So this is it everyone! The beginning of online flight theory for NZ. Through this page we are going to be asking you questions and contributions like; how much you would pay, what would you like to see, photos to be shared, etc.
Please share this page with as many people as you can as we are just in the website development process now, the more input we can have before it is released the better!
Happy days,
Gabrielle
