Yesterday the U15 Girls rugby team headed to Levin for the annual 12-aside tournament. The girls played hard and represented Feilding High School incredibly well, battling through some windy conditions. We played Manukura and St Mary’s, finishing the day in 3rd place. Congratulations to Bobbi-Jo Gavan, who was named Feilding High School’s MVP for the tournament!

A great day one yesterday for our 1st XI girls at The Grant Jarvis tournament in Hamilton.🥅⚽️
After a fantastic breakfast made for champions we headed out to play Sacred Heart with Captain Caylee Fergus scoring early țo take the lead, they replied to level up just before half time. We managed to secure a 2nd goal in the 2nd half by Ashlee Short and were able to hand on for the 2-1 win. It was a pretty sweet win knowing the calibre of players Sacred Heart had in their line up. MVP Saskia Symonds.
The weather was not our friend so we made the decision to pile back into vans and lunch at our accommodation before returning for our late afternoon match against Aquinas College. Caylee scored again within the first minute and secured a second within the first 5 minutes. She went on to score again in the 28th minute of the first half. Going in 3-nil at the break was a great position to be in.
Caylle then having a spell off pitch in the second half Holly Bright scored a brilliant tidy goal 4 minutes after half time.
Caylee returned to the pitch late in the game to put another 2 in the back of the net at the 53rd and 58th minutes.

Manawatu Secondary Schools Squash competition

RESULTS:

Feilding Blue – Division 1, Runner-up

Team – Jack Richardson, Duncan McIntyre, Lucy Totman & Emily McGuinn

Feilding Red – Division 2, Winners

Team – Henry Reilly, Sam Richardson, Janae Christie & Ali Christie, Res – Cayne Chambers & Coby Mallalieu

The competition finished up a few weeks ago & FAHS had 2 teams entered, along with 15 other teams from PNBHS, PNGHS, Awatapu & Freyberg.

Feilding Blue was undefeated over the initial 11 weeks and came up against a very strong PNBHS team in the finals to finish runner-up for the competition, a very good result for the first time competing in this. Stand out players for this team were Lucy & Jack who played every game and gave it their best each week.

Feilding Red had an exceptional run as well, coming into the final week in second place. This grade was very close and often would go to a countback most weeks, and players had very close games. This team had a great last week and came first in their division. Well done to Henry, Sam, Janae & Ali who played each week but also filled in for the Division 1 team as well when needed.

Thankyou to the parents (and grandparents) who helped with transport, it was a great opportunity to be a part of for the players & finally well done to all the players that joined in.

A THANK YOU FROM THEO - Hi everyone, thank you so much for your support in helping me on my trip!! London was so amazing, and I’m so glad I was given this once in a lifetime opportunity to pursue my passion of theatre.
During our time at The Globe, as well as rehearsing our performance, everyone enjoyed a wide variety of workshops and lectures from a massive amount of different practitioners and teachers. Some of my favourites were the stage combat workshop led by Maise Carter, our Music workshops, led by Harry Waller, and our lectures on Much Ado about Nothing and Midsummer Nights Dream, taught by Dr Lydia Valentine, and Dr Hanh Bui.

While in London, I ended up going to watch three different stage plays, two of them at The Globe. At the Globe, all of YSC saw Much Ado about Nothing, as well as Midsummer Night’s Dream, and they were honestly the best performances I’ve ever watched in person. I really enjoyed the atmosphere while watching the shows, and just the feeling of being in The Globe in person was amazing. Aside from those two, I also went to see Oliver: The Musical, which was on at the Gielgud Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, I was blown away by the skills of the child actors in Oliver.

Without the countless people that have donated to me to help cover the costs of this trip, I would never have been able to attend, and this kindness really means the world to me. Thank you!

Aimee, Stori and Winter are learning how to cast objects in glass. Some have started by creating a silicone mould of an object, which is then used to make a wax version. They carve and refine the wax before creating a plaster/silica mould around it. The wax is then steamed out, leaving a cavity into which broken glass is placed. Some have used a 3d printed object of their drawings. The mould is then fired to melting temperature, allowing the glass to take on the shape of their original object. For this process, we are using glass from old TV screens, which produces a beautiful soft grey colour that will complement the aesthetic of their work.
