Kia ora Poutama Whānau! 🌟

We have a very special event coming up for our team this week!

To celebrate North Street School’s 10+ years of involvement in the William Pike Challenge, William Pike himself is coming to speak to our students for free!

William will be sharing his incredible story of surviving the Mt Ruapehu volcanic eruption, rebuilding his life with a prosthetic leg, and teaching us all about resilience, wellbeing, and embracing life’s challenges with a positive mindset.

❄️ BRRR! What a frosty start to an AWESOME day out! 🌿

In the final week of Term 2, our William Pike students headed off on an exciting outdoor adventure to Bushy Park Tarapuruhi! 🎒✨

Their day kicked off with a guided bush walk, getting up close with amazing native birds like the tīeke (saddleback) and hihi (stitchbird). They even got to stand in the shadow of Rātānui—the world’s oldest known rātā tree, towering at a massive 36.2 metres high! 🌳😮

After lunch, the students rolled up their sleeves to smash out two hours of their required community service. They got stuck into weeding, installing protective covers on young native trees, and lugging resources around to help out the park’s volunteers. Fantastic effort team! 💪🌱

A HUGE thank you to all the amazing helpers who came along, and a massive shout-out to Park Educator Michaella Luxton for sharing her incredible knowledge with us all day! 🌟🙌

Kia ora Poutama whānau,

Could you please help your child to organise a small collection of photos for this task:

For our calendar art project, we would like you to collect 5–10 photos that represent you. These could include your family, friends, pets, hobbies, sports, favourite places, achievements, or anything else that is important to you.

Once you have chosen your photos, please email them to your school email account so you can access them easily at school when we create our collage artwork.

You have 7 days to complete this task. All photos need to be emailed to your account by Wednesday 17 June.
