Rituals at Eltham Kindergarten
Recently we have had our older tamariki leave to start the next part of their learning journey. Part of our ritual here at Eltham Kindergarten is the creating and wearing of Te Kahu Piki. Here is the explanation of this beautiful and meaningful taonga.

Te Kahu Piki
Our Kahu Piki is a visual reminder of everyone that has completed their journey with us at Eltham Kindergarten.
Te Kahu Piki honours our past and present tamariki, kaiako, and whānau.
Each wearer creates a feather representing themselves, which is added to Te Kahu Piki.
Te Kahu Piki is worn with pride by our leavers on their last day at Eltham Kindergarten. We believe that when Te Kahu Piki is worn next to the skin it connects the wearer to the whenua and all the elements of nature. Through the wearing of Te Kahu Piki the knowledge of the natural world passes on to the wearer. This Kahu Piki is made from cotton and trimmed with feathers to represent that connection.

If you, or someone you know, is looking for a local quality ECE service to attend, pop into the kindergarten at 14 York Street, Eltham, meet the teaching team and have a look around. We would love to meet you and your little one and answer any questions you may have.
We welcome from ages 2-5 year old, offer 20 hours free (and low fees for additional), with 100% qualified teachers.
