Our Rugby programme at Trinity Catholic College has been going from strength to strength, and we could not be more proud of our talented rugby wāhine who have joined forces with Taieri College this season to form a formidable Taieri/Trinity Kōhine 1st XV.

The girls' team finished round one with a dominant win over Columba College 34-22, and the energy was palpable for both players and spectators alike. Some strong running rugby, skilful line breaks, and exciting tries were witnessed throughout the match, played under lights on a crisp evening.

A big thank you to our Trinity Rugby supporters who made it out last night to support our players and to the West Taieri Rugby Club for hosting the game.

We are super excited to see what this team can produce in Round 2. Keep up the great work girls!

As a school community, we congratulate Ms Amelia Bresanello on being awarded the King's Service Medal, announced today in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours. Amelia truly lives our Trinity value of Service and has given many of our senior students the opportunity to serve, lead, and support the many children who have attended Edmund Rice Camps over the past 35 years and 165 camps. This is a marvellous achievement!

The achievements of our ākonga continue to amaze us! This week we are so proud to shine a light on two Year 7 Trinity Students Nio Sevilla and Marcus Uy who both competed in the 2026 Kukkiwon International Taekwondo Championship held in Christchurch recently, coming away as champions of their respective divisions!

Nio won two Gold medals in the Kyurugi Under 35kg category (Coloured Belt and Black Belt divisions), and a Silver medal in the Poomsae Minor 2 Colored Belt division. Nio was also selected as the Best Kyurugi Player for the Colored Belt division across the tournament. What an outstanding achievement!

Marcus also won two Gold Medals in his respective Kyorugi 49kg Black Belt and Geup 2–1 Divisions. On top of this, Marcus won two SIlver medals in the Individual Poomsae and Pair Poomsae. Very impressive results at an international competition!

Our Trinity Catholic College Community is incredibly proud of Nio and Marcus, and we extend a huge congratulations to them both on all they are achieving in the world of Taekwondo. Fantastic results from two talented rising stars!

We celebrate a huge win as Otago wins the national debating competition for the 2nd time in 3 years and only the 3rd time in 40 years. Trinity is very proud of Ché who, along with Emily and Beth (Columba), won against Auckland to bring home the trophy. Trinity was represented well with Ziva also in the team as reserve. Well done! Thank you to Mrs McGarry who continues to inspire and support our Trinity debaters.
