What a great day to get slimey! 🌞

We have been enjoying some sensory exploration here at kindergarten and oh what fun we have been having!

Whilst our sensory exploration is a lot of fun, it is also vital for development, promoting cognitive, motor, language, and social skills by encouraging exploration through sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. It strengthens brain connections, fosters emotional regulation, and supports early scientific thinking.

Learning through play and having fun whilst doing it!

We have recently purchased a new 'Ninja Slackline'!

We have a group of tamariki that really enjoy challenging their bodies and engaging in adventurous play!

This provides them with an exciting and engaging opportunity to develop their gross motor skills, grip strength, balance, and coordination. As well as turn taking and being a supportive friend as we encourage each other to try new things.

We are so impressed with the skills and courageous spirit we have been observing! Ka mau te wehi!

Tamanuiterā 🌞 has sure been shining on the Peninsula today!
Here at Portobello Kindergarten we made the most of it with some exciting water play πŸ›πŸ’§
We learnt and experienced some very cool science concepts such as speed, friction & velocity all whilst having an absolute blast! Embracing spontaneous play (and FUN!) and weaving in the learning is what we do best!

Our Friday Frolics are back up and running, we are thoroughly enjoying exploring our local community and making connections to our place. Whether it be the cafe, the park or the forest we love to see everything going on in town and chat bout our lived experiences, strengthening our relationships, communication and confidence to explore πŸŒ³πŸ›

Our prize from winning the sunflower competition has arrived! Just in time for our next project
πŸ§šβ€β™‚οΈπŸ§šOur Fairy Garden!🌷πŸͺ»
Tamariki decided the garden was looking in need of a refresh to attract more magic and wonder to our kindergarten, as such, tamariki have been busily planning and sharing their ideas of how we could make it more magical. These wonderful prizes will go a long way towards making it beautiful!

Exciting news!
