It is farewell to the 2023 Arana cohort as our 80th year comes to an end. The second semester has been as busy as the first, with the College Ball, Stuart Shield, Quiz night, Clyde Cup, Rugby 7s and the end of year Formal dinner. Congratulations to everyone for making it through exams, and we wish all our tauira a restful and hopefully sunny summer!

It's the last weekend of semester break and the students are arriving back at college for the second semester. So much happened in the first semester so here are a few highlights including the 80th Annual Oscars, sports finals, and Cultural Performance evening. We're looking forward to semester 2 being equally as action packed!

It is nearly the Easter Break, which is a great time to reflect on the first half of the semester! So much has happened, from the flouse battle & volunteering in O Week, to disco ice skating and the start of Inter-College Sports. We're having a blast, and can't wait for the rest of the year. It is wonderful to have the 2023 cohort settling right in to life in Ōtepoti!

Such awesome mahi from this bunch!
Arana College's 'Be Bold, be Bald!’ fundraiser has been a huge success, raising over $6,695! A huge THANK YOU to Danielle, Jonathan, Janindu, Reuben, Nuhaka, Regan and George for choosing to fundraise for the Cancer Society Otago & Southland.
"It’s been an incredible fundraising process and we’ve felt very privileged by the amount of love and support we’ve received," said Danielle. The group organised a raffle and auction where supported by businesses and groups from around the country who donated prizes.
Community support allows the Cancer Society to continue providing care and support to people and families affected by cancer.

Here at Arana College we have just had our Formal Dinner last week, marking the end of 2022, before the exam period. It's time to look back on the final quarter of the year, including the Quarantine Island volunteering trip, Larnach Castle trip, Carnival Day, as well as the touch, rugby, and wild card sports competitions! We also farewell our pathways students who finished last week. We wish all of our residents the very best for their upcoming exams!

It's been a very busy first half of semester 2 so far for Arana College. We have had our annual ball themed 'Casino', the Back 2 Skool party, Mid-Winter Christmas Dinner, the Drag Race (congratulations to Miss Pasifika!), Clyde Cup hockey, netball and football, as well as a weekend trip to volunteer on Tamau Kaurua (Quarantine Island).
We're all looking forward to the upcoming break, and then getting back into it for the end of the year!
