Matthew and Fiona of Ma-Fi Arts have been very busy moving out of our rooms (104-105) in King Edward Court. Currently all our tools, materials and equipment are in storage in Room 109, and downstairs, on ground floor, in 3 other rooms. Perhaps we will set up and continue for a time when we are reorganised in our new spaces in KEC.
We will post updates on our Ma-Fi Arts Children’s Art Workshop page.

- Opportunities to
Fiona and I have worked steadily shifting into our new room: 109 in King Edward Court. Although we were considering reopening for a January holiday programme, we are just not ready. We’ve got so much stuff that Rm 109 is full with now room for classes. Many apologies to all who hoped that we would reopen, but just not feasible at the moment.
We did have intentions to offer a holiday programme later in January but it is taking us such a long time to get things from 2 large rooms moved around into 2 new smaller rooms, in the KEC Building. Thus we will not be reopening in the immediately foreseeable future. Apologies for any inconvenience we love you all so very much and miss our wonderful groups of creative kids that have brought us so much joy and sense of fulfilment over the 25 years that Ma-Fi Arts Children’s Workshop thrived. On a regular basis we reconnect with individuals who attended the sessions over the years. We didn’t manage to have any children ourselves but we were so very fortunate to have had the opportunity to share our multi-media practical art studios with so many great children over the years. During our last holiday programme a parent of two children arrived and stated that she’d attended Ma-Fi Arts Workshop as a child and loved it so much that she was enrolling her two children.
To all our much loved and greatly treasured Ma-Fi Arts Attendees over the years.
We made the decision to close Ma -Fi Arts Children’s Workshop on October 3rd, 2025, the last day of our most recent holiday programme.
Because another person wanted to take over our rooms, we worked steadily to remove all of our tools, equipment, materials and furniture from Room 104, within a month. We moved to 2 other smaller rooms in the King Edward Court building. (We’re still getting the last of our gear out of room 105) Under the pressure to vacate room 104, quickly as possible within a month, so that the new tenant could move in, I ended up with an injured hip-pelvis joint through lifting too many heavy things and descending from a high bench too quickly. The fall while running followed by the joint dislocation has slowed our extraction from room 105 considerably. Not to worry we’ll get out asap under the circumstances. As it happens the would be, new tenant didn’t take on our rooms anyway.
We have had quite a few requests from families wanting their children to attend a Ma-Fi Arts Children’s Art Workshop Holiday Programme during the upcoming Summer Holidays
At first we had been reconsidering our previously stated intention to close, and thus reopen our Creative Space for holiday programmes in our new rooms, when the 2025 school year ended, until Xmas, but the sheer volume of stuff to be moved and re-organised in our new rooms to accommodate classes is rather daunting. I don’t think that we can be prepared enough, in time for pre-Xmas classes. I, (Matthew) am still recovering from injuries to my wrist, back and hip that I received from a fall when out running, plus the hip-pelvis dislocation. These injuries make it rather too painful for me to perform the tasks that I deal with, while we run Ma-Fi Arts
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. We will post information in good time regarding any decision to reopen in January 2026. (Although at this stage it’s not looking very likely)I’m finding all of this quite emotionally challenging but with Fiona’s determination and support we’re working our way through it all.
