A huge shout-out to Te Haeatanui Stevens (Y10), who proudly stood for our kura at this year’s regional Ōtākou/Murihiku Ngā Manu Kōrero competition in Invercargill. She is the first student to compete for St Hilda’s in many years, making her achievement extra special!

She competed in the Te Rāwhiti Ihaka (Junior Māori) section. With her powerful delivery and incredible ideas, she placed an impressive second overall (after a close tie-break in scoring). All of her hard work, and the dedication of those supporting her, truly paid off.

And I also want to extend a massive thank you to our wonderful students who travelled to tautoko Te Haeatanui, and to John McGlashan and Columba College for joining forces with us so we could collectively support and lift up all of our junior speakers together.

Poho kererū mātou katoa. We are all incredibly proud.

Thank you Emily Zhou (Year 7) and Melody Li (Year 8) for their wonderful violin performance at assembly yesterday.

Emily and Melody performed Viva La Vida, showcasing the skills and dedication they have developed through their violin learning journey.

You both performed with such confidence and poise and we are grateful that you chose to share your musical experience with us.

We are absolutely thrilled to see our very own Belinda Colling featured by Rowing NZ for Volunteer Spotlight Week.

While Rowing New Zealand is celebrating her incredible leadership on the water, we know just how much Belinda gives to our entire St Hilda's community. Alongside heading our rowing programme, she is a valued member of our Board of Proprietors and Tolcarne Committee, and generously shares her wealth of knowledge as the co-coach of our Senior A netball team.

We are deeply appreciative of the immense time, energy, and expertise she pours into our kura. Check out the wonderful feature from Rowing NZ below.

🚣‍♀️ Volunteer Week Spotlight 🚣‍♀️

Today we're celebrating Belinda Colling, nominated by the Otago Rowing Association for her outstanding contribution to rowing in Otago.

Known as a true "can-do leader", Belinda became involved in rowing four years ago when her eldest daughter joined St Hilda's rowing. Despite having no prior rowing experience, she quickly immersed herself in every aspect of the sport and has since become an invaluable volunteer, leader and mentor.

From supporting athletes, coaches and parents, to organising regatta entries, coordinating maintenance projects, staffing kitchens, and helping deliver local regattas, Belinda's energy and enthusiasm seem limitless. Her ability to bring people together and inspire others to get involved has had a lasting impact on both North End Rowing Club and the wider Otago rowing community.

Whether she's setting up finish lines, launching safety boats, coordinating volunteers, or championing the wellbeing and development of young rowers, Belinda leads by example every step of the way.

Thank you, Belinda, for the incredible difference you make to rowing in Otago and for your dedication to our sport. 👏

🚣‍♀️💙

Thank you to everyone who supported our Harry Styles raffle through either buying a ticket or selling a form of tickets on behalf of the school.

We are excited to share that we had 682 entries, and raised over $12,000 for our building programme – which is currently well progressed in the development of our science labs.

A special thank you to David Smith from Open Skies Travel, who has kindly supported us in this raffle.

Today, our Presiding Member of the Board of Trustees, Gretchen Beardmore, drew the raffle, and the winner is… drumroll please… Annie Scott-Williams.

Congratulations Annie – we hope you have someone lined up to share in this fabulous Harry Styles experience in Sydney!
