Sand play 🏖️
Our sandpit at playcentre is one of the most used areas on session, the kids dig 🪏, pour water 💧, drive trucks 🚚 and use all sorts of imaginative play. It is enriching for their learning providing so many benefits. They learn textures, colours and fine motor skills.

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori ❤️🖤🤍
Yesterday we took part in Playcentre Aotearoa’s challenge for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori - Te Reo Toi (Arts and crafts) we asked the tamariki questions like “Kei te hiahia hanga koe i te aha?” Translating to “What do you want to make?”
They enjoyed colouring and cutting to create a beautiful masterpiece each.

Yesterday we had a fun end of session playing with our NEW musical instruments. The tamariki sang, danced and explored their rhythm 🎶

On Friday we said a special goodbye to Emily as she takes her next big step from Playcentre into school. 🎒✨

Her bright smile, curiosity and caring nature have made her a treasured part of our Playcentre whānau. We’ve loved watching her explore, grow in confidence and bring joy to every session through laughter, creativity and messy play. 💕

We hope school brings exciting adventures, wonderful new friends and many opportunities to keep learning and shining. Keep being your amazing self, Emily! 🌈📚

Our Friday at Playcentre 🌿☀️

We made the most of the outdoors with lots of fresh air, exploring and plenty of outdoor play! We also got stuck into some gardening and relocated a cherry tree 🌳🍒

Today we saw some lovely friendship and cooperation at Playcentre 💛 One of the children helped their friend by gently pushing them on the swing, waiting for them to be ready and making sure they were having fun. A simple moment of kindness, connection and learning through play! 🌿

Super quiet session today, but the tamariki enjoyed exploring and playing together. Lots of sensory exploration today!

Painting - hand painting as well as brushes and sponges, working on those fine motor skills.

Blue water - lots of very precise scooping and pouring going on and important to make sure a large portion of the body gets soaked. 😊

Making scones is always a sensory experience, we felt the flour and how it was “fluffy” as described by one of the children.

We have playcentre open week next week, we’d love for you to come and visit and see what we are all about. We will be open Tuesday the 18th and Friday the 21st from 9:15am-1:15pm!
