Colours are a huge part of childhood! 🌈 Bright colours capture little ones’ attention, spark their imagination, and encourage creativity through play. Whether they’re painting, building, sorting, or exploring nature, every splash of colour helps make learning fun and exciting. ❤️🧡💛💚💙

You’re invited to Playcentre Open Week! Free play sessions for tamariki aged 0-6 here at Riselaw Road.

Bring your baby or preschooler along to our centre 17-21 August and experience our supportive community.

Your child will enjoy a range of play experiences, from messy and outdoor play to arts, music, and water exploration.

At Playcentre, early learning is a shared journey. For over 85 years, we’ve supported parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend and learn alongside their children, helping build confidence, connection, and belonging.

You’ll also gain access to a free NZQA-accredited adult education programme, helping you build practical parenting skills and strategies to support your child’s learning.

🐠 Our Aquatic Animals & Sea Life Exploration 🐬

This term we have an exciting trip to the aquarium coming up, so we have decided to follow the children’s interests and focus our learning over the next few weeks on aquatic animals and sea life.

Together, we will explore the underwater world and learn about the animals that live in our oceans, rivers, and waterways. We will discover where they live, what they eat, how they move, and the special features that help them survive.

Through hands-on experiences, sensory play, stories, songs, art, and science, the children will be encouraged to ask questions, share their ideas, and make discoveries together.

We will also explore how we can care for our oceans and waterways and protect the animals that call them home. 🐟🦀🐙🐬🪼

This learning supports Te Whāriki by encouraging children’s curiosity and exploration (Mana Aotūroa), communication (Mana Reo), sense of belonging (Mana Whenua), and contribution (Mana Tangata).

We can’t wait to see where the children’s interests and questions take us as we dive into our aquatic adventure! 🌊🐟🦀
