We have been discussing Matariki as it is fast approaching ✨

This morning, we harvested berries from our bush and have put together some delicious muffins. We can't wait for them to be finished in the oven to enjoy with with our friends! 🧁

Sharing kai (food) is a cornerstone of Matariki, the Māori New Year. It honours Matariki heri kai (the bringer of food) by feasting with whānau and expressing gratitude for the harvest.

Our tamariki have really been enjoying being outside. They have been showing a particular interest in gardening and all of the leaves on the ground 🍂

This morning we are taking a closer look at the leaves through leaf rubbing - you can see so many little details of each leaf on the paper, while the tamariki are developing their fine motor skills and creativity 🍁

"Roll, roll, roll!"

Our tamariki are constantly learning many different skills through their play. This wee friend was using her fine motor skills to roll the paint, practicing her language skills as she "roll, roll, roll"s, and expressing creativity and freedom to explore as she places the paint onto the paper (and her hands!).

Tamariki are curious and always finding new things to learn at playcentre 🫟

A warm place inside to explore and play 🥰

While the sun was shining, we rugged up warm and rode bikes, did some gardening, and picked some berries 🫐

Join us Tuesday - Friday, 9am-1pm during term times 🥰

What do we do at playcentre, you ask?

We PLAY!

We hide in boxes with our tamariki, read pukapuka, sing waiata, splash in water, paint, squeeze and create with playdough and so much more!

If you have an infant or preschooler (0-6yo) and are looking for a safe, warm, nurturing environment for them to learn - come and visit us!

At playcentre we believe parents are such important teachers for their tamariki and you can be right there alongside and involved in your tamariki's ECE experience! We also offer free education courses if that's something you'd be interested in 🥰
