Today we are proudly celebrating Jonathan Rhodes Kindergarten's 73rd year of education at 336 North Road.

In 1926 North East Valley Kindergarten opened in Millar St Hall and then moved to the Bowling Green Pavilion. It closed in 1931 due to the depression and reopened in 1937. It moved into its own building in 1953 as Jonathan Rhodes Kindergarten and in 2012 our new building was opened.

We are looking forward to a fun day!

Our fabulous committee have been busy putting together an amazing raffle, and we are so excited to finally launch it! 🥳

We have some fantastic prizes up for grabs, and all proceeds will go towards replenishing and enhancing our kindergarten resources and environment for our tamariki.

A huge thank you New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT)!
Receiving a grant from NZCT made it possible for us to upgrade the climbing boxes in our outdoor play area and get new bikes too - these are such a great asset and are already well loved and used by the Jonathan Rhodes tamariki. An extra special thanks to The Rope and Twine Dunedin & Takeichi New Zealand, funds generated by these NZCT gaming lounges are poured back into the community and we are so grateful to be a recipient this time around! Lastly a big thank you to our committee members and team at Dunedin Kindergartens for the complimentary fundraising and grant application mahi! We are so grateful to be supported by our community.

Rest in Peace dear Joy ❤️
Thank you for the wonderful contribution you made to our community as a teacher and, later, as Head Teacher.
You touched the lives of so many tamariki, whānau and kaiako and will be fondly remembered.
Our thoughts and aroha are with Joy’s whānau and the team at Reid Park Kindergarten also.

‼️ ❄️ Further update, all DK kindergartens are closed for the day Tuesday 4th August, inline with our OPPA colleagues and schools. The conditions are dangerous, roads are treacherous and people’s safety matters. Work and learn from home today. Kia mahana 🔥

It would be fair to say the Tamariki are beyond thrilled with the new safety matting that was laid this week at JRK. A massive thank you needs to go out to the DK for overseeing this project and to the team at Numat for answering the endless questions the Tamariki (& kaiako) had for them during the week 🥰
Our outdoor learning environment looks amazing!
