Our Year 12 Outdoor Education class recently teamed up with the incredible crew at Forest & Bird Dunedin for an inspiring day out at Moore’s Bush.

The session began with a guided walk through the bush, learning to identify our unique native flora and fauna. Then, it was time to roll up our sleeves and put that knowledge into action, getting stuck into clearing weeds, planting new growth, and giving the trail some well-deserved TLC.

The outdoors gives us amazing, hands-on practical opportunities all year round, so taking this chance to give back was the perfect fit, empowering our students with the knowledge and tools to care for and protect the place we call home.

Huge thanks to Forest & Bird Dunedin for guiding the next generation!

Well done to our Jazz Bands who performed at the Dunedin Youth Jazz Festival last Friday!
Our Big Band, The Careless Whisperers, delivered outstanding performances of Moonlight Serenade, Careless Whisper, Garota de Ipanema and Blow, Gabriel, Blow
Their hard work paid off with a Silver Award πŸ₯ˆ
Our combo, Mr McClazzy and the Jazz Bandits, also impressed the audience with their performances of La luz en ti & Mack the Knife.
A huge thank you to Mr McLaren for his tireless dedication and the countless hours he spent arranging music to suit every student. The performances were polished, confident, and a testament to all of the work that has gone on behind the scenes.
A special congratulations to Esme Liesbeth-Blaker, who was selected for the All Star Band and performed on Saturday in recognition of her stunning vocals and Iris Feltham, who received the Best Non-Standard Jazz Instrument award for her work on the cello.
Congratulations to everyone involved. You should all be incredibly proud of your performances and the way you represented our school at the festival 🎢🎷🎺πŸͺˆπŸ₯

Our enormous gratitude and awe go out to the amazing team at Science Wānanga, University of Otago, for putting on a super fun and inspirational three day noho for seven of our Māori ākonga.
Photonics, fireworks and neurographics were just some of the sciences we learned, alongside matariki-centred creative challenges at beautiful Araiteuru marae.
The Bayfield crew were brilliant and really appreciated the chance to learn from expert scientists and make new friends and lifelong memories.
