Have you ever wondered what inspires songwriters to write a song, or how they do it? Who better to ask than the superbly talented Kath Bee - Children's Songwriter, and who better to ask her than Ōtepoti's legend of singing, Benjamin Madden (with questions from Room 9 at Abbotsford School).
MEO. Music Education Otago are delighted to share our very first 'Sound's Amazing' podcast with you all. Watch it yourself, share it with your students, share it with your colleagues. It's broken down into four bitesize pieces, or watch the whole thing in one glorious sitting.
You will learn so much about the joy of songwriting and the thrill of inspiring children through music.
Thanks Kath and Ben - YOU ROCK 🤩🤩🤩

How cool would it be if Ōtepoti Dunedin was the first centre to have every school sign up for the Kiwileles. You don't even need to have ukes (they can come later!!)
Spread the word and let's get strumming and singing and smiling 🤩

Great coverage in the Otago Daily Times of the first of this year's Ōtepoti Dunedin Ukulele Jams, run by MEO. Music Education Otago in collaboration with the NZ UkuleleTrust.
Taieri College were our hosts once again as 300 kids and their superstar teachers from 10 primary schools rocked out to their favourite songs from the Kiwileles programme, joined by an awesome crew of future teachers from University of Otago College of Education.
The Dunedin Public Art Gallery art educators were on hand to create a ROCK-TASTIC collaborative artwork, and Ukulele Jam Band (Samuel Leaper, Anthony Breese, Jakira Brophy, Josh Tuiavii & Niamh Crooks) brought the magic! Plus guest performances from Isaac Tili, and Taieri College Band Supernatural.
WHAT A MORNING!!!🤩🤩🤩
Massive thanks to the Dunedin City Council and the Otago Community Trust for funding the event, and to ukulele art prize sponsors DCC Moana Pool, DCC Lan Yuan, Tūhura Otago Museum, The Warehouse and Woolworths New Zealand.
