What’s for breakfast this week?
ღ Creamy brown rice porridge ღ
Brown rice is a wholegrain which is a great source of fibre this helps lower cholesterol! Brown rice leaves you feeling fuller for longer which may benefit you if you tend to get mid morning cravings before lunch. Having a good fibre content means it helps to move waste through your digestive tract, making it an awesome breakfast option 🧡

When you are listening to someone, completely, attentively. You are listening not only to the words, but also to the feeling of what is being conveyed, to the whole of it not just part of it. ღ

ღ COMPASSIONATE LISTENING ღ
ღ What is compassionate listening?
Compassionate listening is the kind of listening that can help relieve another persons suffering. You commit to listening with only one purpose, to allow the other person to empty their heart allowing them to heal. When you listen with this intent you can bring transformation and healing to another person.
ღ How can we practice this effectively?
When this type of communication occurs listen, don’t respond immediately. Let go of your own perception, allow the other person to have their perception even if it’s something you don’t agree with. When we listen with no judgement we can too learn so much about our own perceptions as well as others. Thich Nhat Hanh quotes that “The fear, the anger, the despair is born on the ground of wrong perception.” Once you have listened take time and respond accordingly at a later time if you can. The way in which we communicate things is very important.
Here is something we can all practice:
“Dear friends. Dear people. I know that you suffer a lot. I have not understood enough of your difficulties and suffering. It’s not my intention to make you suffer more. It is the opposite. So please tell me about your suffering, your difficulties. I’m eager to learn and understand.” - Thich Nhat Hanh
If we start with loving speech, and it is honest and true, the other person will be more inclined to open their heart in truth to you. ღ
BE KIND.
LISTEN.
BE COMPASSIONATE.
MAKE LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING A DAILY PRACTICE.

When challenge meets us, can we see it as an opportunity to learn and grow?
ღ “People will teach you how to love by not loving you back. People will teach you to forgive by not apologising. People will teach you kindness by their judgement. People will teach you how to grow by remaining stagnant. Pay attention when you’re going through painful, mysterious times. Listen to the wisdom life is trying to teach you. “ - Meredith Maple

Baron Baptiste on Baptiste Power Yoga.
ღ This is the style of yoga I trained in, this is the style of yoga I teach. It allows you to be who you are unapologetically. No one can tell you who you are or what is right for you. Only you know that ღ

დ Exposure to nature - as well as making you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension and the production of stress hormones. დ
Can you commit to spending more time outside? 🤍

When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree.
The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying ‘You are too this, or I’m too this.’ That judgment mind comes in. And so I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are. - Ram Dass
Have a lovely weekend 🤍

My 5 favourite yoga poses for grounding and connection.
ღ reclined bound angle pose (supported with bolster) stretches inner thighs, groins and knees, relieve symptoms of stress, menstruation and menopause.
ღ malasana (supported with bolster & block) as well as strengthening your legs and opening your hips. Helps to balance the root chakra. Mulhadara chakra effects your feelings of security and stability. Finding balance here can leave you feeling more safe, secure and grounded.
ღ shoelace (full or half with bolster support) compression for the hips, release for the lower back and glutes. As this can be quite a challenging posture it requires deep focus on your breath encouraging you to focus in on how you are feeling in that very moment.
ღ caterpillar (supported with bolster) works to decompress the spine, stretches hamstrings. Beneficial for the digestive system, as well as balancing the root chakra.
ღ supine twist. Releases the lower back, stretches the muscles in your back, improves digestion and quiets the mind.
Great, simple nourishing sequence. Enjoy 💚
