💜It’s Okay to Ask for Help 💜

I struggle with this one.
The thought pattern of why should I ask someone to do something for me when I could do it myself.

I wonder if this way of thinking is instilled in us from childhood and whether we felt we were able to ask for and receive help when we needed it.
Or how asking for and receiving was modelled to us by our parents and other close people.
I know this is a big factor for me…those childhood conditionings and experiences.

Part of our Motherhood journey is doing the inner mahi so we can come to the realisation that yes we can do the thing but it’s doesn’t always have to be us doing it. And to feel comfortable in reaching out and asking for more support.
And to not feel guilt or unworthiness in doing so

💜 The Sacred Season of Postpartum 💜

Postpartum is the season specifically for Māmā that begins right after pēpi is born…

It brings its own unique energy in which it is vital that Māmā is tended to with special kai, wrap around support from her village, rest, and other supportive therapies.

How she is tended to in the 42 days of her sacred season will define and influence her overall wellbeing for the rest of her life ✨

I came upon this quote today in Kelly Tikao’s thesis “Ngai Tahu Birthing Traditions”.

To me, it speaks to the sacredness of all wāhine, as whare tangata (house of peoples).
