A fantastic performance by Caeli Griffin at the Dunedin Performing Arts Competitions over the weekend. Caeli earned 1st place in both of her group categories: the Instrumental Duet (12 and under 16) and the Instrumental Ensemble (Under 16). A wonderful effort and outcome—well done, Caeli!

Awesome work from Julia and Penelope Hodgson at the South Island Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships in Christchurch. Both girls put in huge effort across two days of racing, bringing home top results:
⭐Penelope: 1st in Junior Girls Sprint & 1st in Junior Girls Long 🥇🥇
⭐Julia: 2nd in Intermediate Girls Sprint & 3rd in Intermediate Girls Long 🥈🥉

A massive congratulations to Year 9 student Zara Owen on an incredible campaign at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in El Salvador. Surfing up an age group at just 13, Zara finished 25th in the world in the U16 Girls division, competing alongside her brother Alexis (who placed 10th in the U18 Boys).
Zara wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to our school and wider community for all the support, fundraising, and messages while she was away. We are so proud of you, Zara! Ka rawe!

Congratulations to Eva McLean on a fantastic run at the NZ Road Mile Championship on George Street on Saturday!
Competing in the U20 grade, Eva put in a brilliant effort to finish 5th overall in a strong field. Pictured alongside her is Eve Kelleher from Queen's High, who placed 6th. Ka rawe, Eva—an impressive result!

Great day out at the Hillary Get 2 Go event. The combined OGHS/OBHS team worked hard together through all three challenges—orienteering, rogaining, and mountain biking—and came first!
Awesome team effort and problem-solving all round. Huge thanks to the organisers and volunteers for putting on a fantastic event!

We are full of gratitude following an incredible couple of nights at the Edgar Centre for Otago Polyfest.
Ngā Teina o Wairua Pūhou took to the stage for the very first time with immensely powerful mana and courage, guided by tutors Emily Kena and Mariah Taungapeau. Kā Kōmako performed under the tutelage of Davina Gilbert, and our Pasifika group, Teine o Le Afi, who brought a graceful, seamless performance honouring Tongan, Tokelauan, and Samoan cultures with support from Mr Trickey and tutors Bella-Hana and Leyla White.
On Thursday, Wairua Pūhou stood on the atamira. Carrying a legacy that began in 1985 when Alva Kapa named the roopu, our rangatahi represented all who came before them after three terms of hard mahi. They delivered a tight bracket full of passion, strength, and incredible harmonies.
A massive mihi to our rangatahi, our tutors Rinaria Hepi and Taina Te Ngahue, and the whānau who supported them. Special thanks to Mrs Mathews, Mrs Parkinson, Matua Neil Brew, and Matua Mac for taking on the heavy lifting behind the scenes. Lastly, thank you to the Otago Polyfest organizers for continuing to host such a wonderful event for our community. Ka mihi ki koutou mō te awhi ki a mātou.
