Congratulations to all the teams who competed in our competition this weekend. We were so impressed with the calibre of the presentations.

At our first internal competition of the semester, sponsored by Deloitte, teams had to advise whether a clothing company should stay niche or scale up.

Teams had to consider brand identity, feasibility, and effectiveness while balancing key factors, including whether the brand’s personal connection could be preserved, given that the artwork featured on the clothing was created by the founder’s father. After four hours of preparation, teams gave a 10 minute presentation followed by a 10 minute Q&A.

Well done to the top two teams!
🥇 Management and the Interns: Noa Visser, Zoey McNamara, Harry Florentine and CJ Fernandico.
🥈 Catalyst Consulting: Anika Kelly, Mischy Disu, Luis Smales and Shoshana Wijeyeskoon.

Congratulations also to the top speakers from each pool!
Pool One: James Bennett
Pool Two: Matthew McMurray

Thank you to our judges for volunteering their time and knowledge: Nico Bhula, Kirsten Robertson, Natasha
Podgorodnichenko, Bianca Lim, Sequoia Short, Ian Calvert, John Guthrie, Laura Bradley and Jeff Foote, your insights were so helpful for our teams.

We would also like to thank
our other prize sponsors Redbull, Harraway Oats, La Porchetta, The Bog and Re Burger!

To start off the semester, four of our members - Emily Cole-Baker, James Bennett, Narayan Shastri and Kelsey-Anne Davis - represented us at the Sydney International Business Competition (SIBC). Competing against teams from across the world on two different cases.

Six hour case: Amnesty International
Focusing on developing a strategy to grow membership and boost engagements with the organisation’s governance process.

24 hour case: Helping a local hotel win back profit from online travel agencies while raising awareness of what it offers to the surrounding community.

A huge congratulations to the team for their hard work, placing them second and third within their pools.

Also, a massive thank you to:
Natasha Podgorodnichenko - for organising Otago’s participation
George Fisher, Katrina Hogg and Sergio Biggemann - for coaching the team
Lachlan Williams - for coaching the team and supporting them during the competition
Kieran Dao - for his guidance as the team’s local buddy
Sydney International Business Competition (SIBC) - for organising this amazing opportunity

Congratulations to our team for taking out first place in the second round of Nationals!

Caleb Kiss, Bracken Norris, Nicole Lardera and Anika Kelly represented OCC this past weekend in Wellington.

The team tackled a case on whether Intuition Robotics should pursue a B2C or B2G strategy for ElliQ, their companion robot. The team suggested ‘Why Not Both?’, supporting Intuition Robotics’ long-term goal of entering the insurance space while maintaining a strong B2C presence to reduce the risk associated with relying on government contracts. The team’s B2C strategy involved community-based partnerships, low-tech media channels and an exclusive companion app for ElliQ users.

An enormous congratulations to Caleb, Bracken, Nicole, and Anika for the incredible dedication and hard work they poured into this competition. You’ve made OCC incredibly proud!

A sincere thank you also goes to coaches Jessica Licht and Sergio Biggerman, whose dedication to this team has been invaluable.

Thank you to for hosting. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone next semester as we host round three in Dunedin!
