14 teams. 15 hours of cases. 2 presentations. 1 unforgettable week.

Last week, Nico Bhula, Bianca Lim, Jessica Licht, and Ben Ellis represented the University of Otago at the 36th Scotiabank International Case Competition (SICC) hosted by the Ivey Business School in Canada 🇨🇦

Competing against 13 universities worldwide, the team tackled two intense real-world cases:
- A 6-hour case on the future of the Toronto Transit Commission, where we explored electrification strategies.
- A 9-hour case on Zipline, diving into the future of AI-powered healthcare and drone delivery logistics on a global scale

A huge highlight: placing 1st in our pool for the first case 🏆 and capped off with 2nd place in the Team Spirit Award.

Beyond the case room, it was a week of new friendships, unforgettable experiences, and proudly representing Otago on an international stage.

Massive congratulations to our team and thank you to everyone who made this opportunity possible 💙

When we look back on 2025, it will undoubtedly go down in the history books for the Otago Consulting Club. From growing our membership to over 90 students, achieving a clean sweep at Round Three of New Zealand Nationals — with Otago teams placing first, second, and third, and sending teams to both Canada and Sydney to compete internationally — this year has been one to remember. We also launched our inaugural Women in Consulting Competition and were honoured to be named Runner Up Society of the Year at the Blue and Golds Awards. We couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who made it all possible.

A massive thank you goes out to those who made the magic happen behind the scenes — thank you to Natasha Podgorodnichenko and Sergio Biggemann for your invaluable guidance and dedication to both the club and our case training, our 2025 Executive - Ben Fleming, George Fisher, Katrina Hogg, Bianca Lim, Krupali Patel, and Jessica Licht, you’ve been an outstanding Executive team, and the 2026 Exec has some big shoes to fill! We’d also like to extend our gratitude to our sponsors, Uluomato’otua Saulaulu Aiono
and Adam Berry for making travel and competition opportunities possible.

We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings — here’s to another year of growth, teamwork, and success for the Otago Consulting Club!
